These are my options. Pick one.

I need a new laptop (and although I have been saying that for a while, the time is more urgent now).
So I am willing to pay R9000 at max, and this laptop will hopefully last me at least 4 years. Mainly just for all the usual stuff, but maybe a game or two when I am bored every now and then.

Will I notice the difference between three and four gigs of ram?
And how much of a difference is there between the 32 and 64 bit versions of windows 7?
And is HP a solid build? Because it offers the worst guarentee of my options.

The only thing missing is n draft wlan (and a free bag). How important is that?

Option 2 is the only one you should really consider since its the only one with a dedicated GPU. But I have a feeling that you get a bit more bang for buck somewhere, will have to do some digging

I'd look for an Acer, if I were you, but if I had to choose one I'd go for the Asus with its dedicated 1GB of RAM for the Ati5470 display adapter.

I'd go for the HP. Only one w/ 7200rpm hdd. HDD feels like the limiting factor on pretty much all the notebooks I've used. Then again I won't game on a notebook so Quik's comment doesn't apply to me.

Wouldn't go for the DELL. Sister recently got one & there was some general flakiness there. Very fast sure but too many issue (keys not working, BSODS etc) uggh.

I'd also place quite a bit of value on draft n.

Take care here, they also have, or had, very poor service levels locally, and a lot of bad issues on some of their previous generation machines. Maybe a reason for short warranty periods, I don't know. Also they may have improved since then.

Draft n is still in, well, draft.., so I wouldn't value it too much.

I used to have a corporate mindset and was a huge fan of HP. HP still make good notebooks, but ASUS/Gigabyte and Samsung offer the best bang for your buck. Go with the Asus and you will not be disappointed.
