in this day and age I find myself with the Zim guys/gals at the top of the pile. They produce excellent work and are really honest and interested in learning more and doing well.

there are a lot of CV's that I take one look at, and tear in half and throw in the bin. I also delete the soft copy, making sure it doesnt get circulated within the company ever again.
 
The tragedy is that one might miss that one gem that just did not know what a CV screener looks for and might have everything else you're looking for. I have on occasion contacted some of the candidates and explained to them what they did wrong on their CV's. The problem is that we don't have the time to do that, perhaps one should have a standard e-mail with pointers for what to do on a CV/Covering letter. Those that are worth it might just learn something from it.

There are plenty of free and professional templates available online. There is no excuse for a poorly formatted CV.

Holy crap, its a disaster! That person clearly doesn't use common sense - a CV is a professional document....putting in things related to social networking...rather silly if you ask me.

This is why I do not celebrate or rather rejoice the matric results. The problem is, so many people will pass matric, many people will pass matric in a way they can go to university (Bachelors pass), and universities can only take in a certain number of first years, and they have their own requirements....of which if you just pass with a bachelors pass, you will find it hard getting in.

For me, the question is "How well did you pass matric...Is it enough?".

I have a link to my LinkedIn profile in my personal details section. That's the only acceptable link IMO. Have had HR people send me friend requests as a result.

I'm 100% certain that anyone who cannot spell the name of the course they have been studying for three years is not someone who I would want to be writing code for us.

Intellisense destroyed any sense of spelling and grammar. I'd like to see some of them write a basic hello world program in Notepad.
 
Got a CV with a LinkedIn link where the guy took a selfie in a suit in a public toilet (cleaning material and toilets in the background) - still trying to figure out if he was the resident janitor or really need to rush a picture in for his profile right there and then ?!??!

He is trying to tell you that since it's hard to get a job without having any experience (since you can't get experience without the job), he had to be a janitor to support his family.

The pic should tell you: "I started from the bottom,"
and with your helping hand: "now im here."
