Things to do when your cap runs out

thanks Monkey!

maybe just clarify for us where you want us to submit new links? I think it would be good if we could mention them here and there?

Clicking on the submit button does what? E-mails who?

It works just like digg.com , You submit any link you want and it appears immediately on the site. You can submit videos, articles, images or entire websites. It does not matter if it is from a site that has been listed. Just make sure it is LOCAL. It's a way for people to go directly to content that is good rather than just having a web link.

Just submit anything.

Ignore the

"Fatal error: Call to undefined function filter_var() in /var/www/locallist.co.za/components/com_tutorials/tutorials.php on line 1224"

it is a minor bug but should not keep you from Submitting your links.

When I log in, it still displays the "Log in" link. Also, when I received the confirmation email, the subject read, "Account details for mercurial at" and then the body of the email, it read, "Hello mercurial, Thank you for registering at ." // I think after the "at" is where your website name should be :p

One last question - where are the interviews? :p

Great site ;)

Thanks I'll take care of those issues.

I am waiting on a few more things, but your the interview should be up by tomorrow.

Brand New Feature!

"Peek" is a new feature that allows users to view International Content through locallist.co.za.

It is a very simple concept, simply put Registered Users which are not capped submit international Content onto the website and then make it available to those that have been capped.

Hope to see some of you guys submit content soon!:D

Just saw that site a couple of hours ago... AWESOME! Kudos for the brilliant idea. Enjoyed the interview with mercurial. Big ups!

+1

Looks very nice. Just the word "two" is missing from the first answer of the interview. "At the moment, there are two servers, namely IS and SAIX."

locallist.co.za has been launched.
The Official Local Live Link Directory.

Everything on the website is Locally Hosted, it is a LIVE link system which means new links are available all the time.

Go and Register and help build SA's local Internet.

Thanks

My cap ran out last night

That helps a lot, I was using some other software to access my msn, but how exactly do you use it?(It says something about migrating on the front page...)
And nice site Naus;) I'm assuming you put up all the links that are in your first post...

1) Create a local e-mail account with your South African isp
2) Go into your Gmail settings and under the accounts tab look for the forwarding option.... set Gmail to forward a copy of everything to the e-mail account you just created.
3) Now configure your e-mail client to download the mail from this new account.. but in your settings set the "reply-to" field as your gmail address.

now you can download your gmail using your local only account (also serves as a way to back-up all of your gmail)... and when you send a reply to anyone they will reply to your gmail as well.

I did that with my WebAfrica local e-mail account.

Easy as pie :) - there is a basic manual on site i think

1. download psi, its a xmpp chat program
2. general-> accounts -> setup new .. jabber.co.za, put a tick in create a new one
It will ask/give you an option to -create- a new account on the set up page
3. after an account is made now set up transports..
General-> Service discovery
4. Browse a list, you will find transports for the various services offered on jabber.co.za
5. right click on service, join..
6. you have to enter you uname + pwd for service wanted
7. Allow/authorize

etc

NOTE: You are trusting a 3rd party with your username & pwd !!!

Uhm.. after thats done you can go back to using whatever client you liked that supports xmpp and connect to jabber.co.za which in turn makes the other connections to msn, icq, yahoo, irc, gtalk, etc
You will thus have one connection(to jabber.co.za) to login to all services..

NOTE: Gtalk transport seems to have a problem with logging chats to email. I usually log into jabber.co.za, load gtalk app while checking mail or other international stuff and set it to log chats and then kill international. And then chats in jabber.co.za via gtalk logs as per usual. I think i must email them and ask how to set it via the transport.

I use digsby as i like the skin i use and fact that it autohides as a side bar etc. Also allows facebook chat which i use when i connect international etc

Yup I know i can retrieve via a local account and enabling gmail pop.. but i kinda wanted to not have to bother re-organising my gmail eventually again. I wonder how well imap works with gmail labels etc and if there are free imap retrieving services.. i think webmail does pop

Is it just me or should it be 'have people been' instead of "1) Downloading using local cap has exploded in the last few years, where have been people downloading?"
