Thoughts on Schools requesting financial information?

Meh just have discussion with them. Sounds like a standard thing and once you speak to them it will be ignored. Schools are under a lot of pressure with parents who don't pay or parents with enough money but still dont want to pay, but if you are not needing a discount of sorts they will probably not bother.

I can garantee you many of the guys showing up in fancy cars have a payslip that says they earn R20K a month.
Yeah I don't disagree but my morals/conscience wouldn't let me. Even something like a white lie haunts me.

It sucks but a lot of people apply to these schools saying they can pay fees but then immediately apply for consessions.
Its a problem for these governing body schools who rely on a big chunk of their income from fees.

For a private school, its a business. They need to know you can actually pay before they give you a spot.
For government schools, they need to know that they are accepting a certain percentage of learners who can pay fees.

And a lot of people take the piss out of those concessions as well and game the system to the max.

Know first hand of a mom with three kids in school running on concessions claiming they can’t afford it otherwise…meanwhile is driving a brand new Mercedes which simply comes out of the husband’s pocket.

Creative accounting.

The ethics of this is shocking but yes I have seen the same. Any principle will tell you - if you ever saw who wasn't paying fees, it would really piss you off.

I was in the SGB in a previous school. This issue is rife and a proper death knell for public schools because of government funding cuts.
