Throttling: Telkom Uncapped vs MWeb Uncapped

I been with Ti for a while now having come from MWEB, and can definitely say that Ti shaping is way more relaxed than MWEB.
Before I would get line speed on torrents regardless of the time of day, now lately I noticed that torrents are being shaped. But the shaping is nowhere near as bad as MWEB. With MWEB 10kB/s was the best I'd get out of my torrents, with Ti its now around 30-60kB/s, not fast but still they torrents. Torrents have only taken a nosedive in the last month or so.
NZB's seem to fair alot better than torrents, getting line speed 80% of the time.
I hardly ever have issues with Youtube or HTTP downloads, both perform great for me.

In a nutshell Ti trumps MWEB hands down!

Agreed with you on this :) Mweb torrents run at 10-15 KBs during the day and at night I get like 60-80 KBs (after 11pm)

HTTP and Youtube is perfect and haven't had many issues with gaming (Mweb) however I hate being throttled by using a certain amount of xxGB in the last 30 days :(

I think everyone should choose Telkom Internet over Mweb any day due to there intense throttling policy applied at the moment

Ti also has a throttling policy, of which I'm yet to feel the brunt of, but the thresholds on Ti seem to higher than MWEB.
Just looking at the Ti thread reveals its been a long time since anyone complained of being throttled :D

Are those thresholds released to the public somewhere in MyBB? :) Well Mwebs throttling policy is ridiculous and they loosing there client base as lots and lots are leaving due to there change in their AUP and I guess I don't blame them. There should be others ways to handle the network and not throttle there clients.

Glad there upgrades to the Telkom infrastructure, can't wait to experience 2 Mb speeds! Over 1 Mb now :D :)

The limits were identified through trial and error, all through the users on myBB.
1MB > 120GB
2MB > 250GB
4MB > 450GB

Ti has changed the policy on their throttling since these limits were identified and now if you schedule your big downloads for nightsurfer(I hope thats right) time you can get alot more than the initial thresholds allowed.
Honestly, I dont think you will find a better ISP than Ti out there. I been with many and none come close to it.
Just head over to the Ti thread and see if you can find anyone complaining about being throttled.
Now head over to MWEB...

Once you go 2MB you can never go back
Same applies for once you got to 4MB, and so on .... :D

What do you think of Afrihost? Have you tried them yet. :) Oh ok those limits are much better than Mweb's unofficial thresholds. I want to perhaps try a Telkom uncapped trial account however Telkom is not responding in their thread, so frustrating!! :D :)

So true! :D I remember the 384 Kb accounts wow! What a difference 1 Mb does :D ;)

Not sure if you've seen my post.
On a 2mb line I getting 320gb + without any shaping or throttling.
I could even do more if I wanted.

I haven't been with Afrihost but I was with Axxess and the experience was terrible. So bad I didn't even consider Afrihost since at the time they were sister companies or whatever.

No, with Telkom.
Normal uncapped.

Dial-up was the pits. I don't miss those days.
Or ISDN for that matter.

Ti FTW

Dial up days are a time I rather forget, although those soft, fax like, chimes my 33kbps modem made as it was connecting always made my day

I used to have a zx spectrum that loaded program/games through cassette tapes.
The loading sound was like death scratching on a chalkboard.

GEESUS that must have been years ago LOL

I had a 386 and used to play Logo from floppy discs, ahhhh the good old days....

unfair use policy

Big small group ... at least two complaints a day in social media .... (gotta look quick before they are taken off FB page), not to mention unique FB pages on this topic and HP complaints backed up by social media .... LOL:wtf:

I have been throttled for the first time, they based it on 30 days until the day I was throttled. I have only used 42gigs so far for Jan, frustrating as xbox are giving away free titles on xbox gold, I only have a 3 month gold trial account. MWEB is by far one of the worst ISP's ever, I can fully understand why people are jumping ship. MWEB I think you need to rethink the way you run things, your ship will sink fast if you do not act now.

Let me help you with your problem .....

GET AWAY FROM MWEB

FTFY ;)

You have a choice of ISPs - each with their own little niggles and inuendos - but where an ISP can throttle you for an UNDEFINED period on an UNDISCLOSED CAP ( their uncapped is just BS) ... you are on a hiding to nothing......
