Thunderbird/Imap E-mail problem

Hi guys,

I need help with a e-mail problem we are having.

We run a e-mail server here, all our e-mails go via a Imap server which is running Centos 5 and the e-mail client we use is Thunderbird.

Here is the problem;

On the 1 PC (a supervisors), whenever he opens his e-mail, all his e-mail is marked as 'unread' - If he marks the e-mail as read, closes TB and opens it again, it shows as unread yet again.

I thought maybe it was TB so I uninstalled it completely and even deleted all the profiles etc from the PC, I reinstalled TB and bam, the problem is still there.

We (The PTA IT guy as well as myself) even setup Outlook on the PC in question, and it does the same thing so its definately (most probably) the Imap server.

Anyone know what could cause this on the server, what setting to change.

*sigh*
It only started doing this kark yesterday and it needs to be fixed.

Doesn't anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Possible fix...

Well, this is how they are going to fix the problem, I'm wondering if this will work...

installing postfix on the mail server which would you to use Outlook using pop3, thus downloading all the email to your local machine (with a backup on the mailserver of course)

Thoughts? Comments?
