Time Capsule worth it?

Yes and yes. However, the Airport Extreme is a better deal. I have got one with a Drobo attached (http://www.drobo.com/) and it streams SD and HD content no problem.
To check what speed your wifi is connecting at, hold down the alt button at the bottom left of your keyboard, and click on the wifi signal at the top right of your screen. You will see your connection speed under "Transmit Rate".
Draft N should give about 300mbps. It does vary according to conditions/distance etc.

To check what wifi your mac has, click the Apple, click "About this mac", Click "More info", scroll down to Network>Airport, and look what PHY modes are supported. You will get your answer about your old mac there!

This is awesome - have a Mac for 3 years and never knew about that... (and now I am hoping that you point me to a useful link with more of those little tricks)

Holding down the option key while clicking on just about anything gives you modified actions - thats what its there for.
Click to open any menu item and see what changes when you hold down the option key... it's pretty radical.
On the apple menu "About this Mac" changes to "System Profiler".
Very different from windoze where the only use for 'alt' is in combination with 'ctrl' & 'del'.:D

How do you link to your brain? hehe. They are all upstairs I am afraid! The most useful thing on a Mac, for me at least, is the Automator. I automate everything that I can. From setting desktop pics, click to email pics, converting movies to MP4 and sending to my iPhone, creating ringtones, doing webservice lookups and displaying the results in a custom webpage, initiating telephone calls, backing up docs to the server at work etc etc. You name it, I have created an Automator Service for it :) If you learn Automator, it can add real value to your life... far more so than any little click tricks can ;)
