ok, so my computer kinda got stuffed up by lightning and i can get any of the following 5 cards for the same price (i know, its weird) and a few others for a bit less..

xfx 8600gt xxx edition (256mb ddr3)

xfx 8600gts (256mb ddr3)

gainward bliss 8600gt (256mb ddr3)

xfx 8600gt extreme edition (256mb ddr3)

xfx 8600gt fatal1ty edition (256mb ddr3)

and these for a bit less...

asus 8500gt 512ddr2

gigabyte 8500gt 512ddr2 silent pipe 2

asus 8500gt 512ddr2 magic silencer

quite a few to choose from and i dont really know what to go for...
my options are limited to these cards ONLY, so i can only get one of the above...

which one will game the best?

If you can afford R1600, get the ATI HD3850. Kills the 8600GTs.

I'm sure someone else will tell you a bit more about the above card ;)

dude you wasting your money when you could in a little bit extra and get twice the performance

i would rather spend 400 rand on 7300gt than 1.2k on a 8600gt cause the 8600 price would make me feel dirty where as the 7300gt is good value for money

i would like a dx10 card that can run new games like crysis etc, preferably one that can run it pretty well.

can also get the Saffire ATI Radeon 2600XT 512ddr3, MSI ATI RX2600XT 256ddr3 and Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD2600 Pro 256ddr3.

never looked at the ATI cards...

HD3850 will run it at medium.
with the 8600GTS don't even bother
