Time to boot up

"They may have compromised quality when it comes to consumers but the technical capability and taste and sophistication of the required infrastructure will be up when we host the World Cup," he says.

So if you make it a habit to provide "compromised quality" to 99% of your customers it means you will know how to serve the 1% so much better.

Yea bloody right.

"compromised quality" is putting it lightly.

Confused about one thing. So they dropping in their NGN, great stuff. How in the name of purple is a new network going to sort out their bw issues? The issue isnt with local, Local is still ok, its international they need to sort out and the only way they gonna have enough bw is if they disconnect the ADSL ppl come match day.

One word: SEACOM. Looks like they might have to buy their bandwidth from Neotel.

I don't know if local is okay? With Vodacom and MTN building their own fibre rings because of Telkom's poor service and slow turnaround times for new lines and capacity it seems like everything is not okay. Then there was Telkom not increasing the upload speed of the 4 meg ADSL guys by as much because their network could not handle it. I don't work for Telkom so I can't really say though...

Argh, I don't think Telkom's ability to provide and fulfil their contractual obligations to FIFA were ever in question. Telkom has the necessary skills and resources (i.e. cash) and as long as their SAT-3 upgrades go as planned, it shouldnt be a problem

What tix me off is that Telkom always presents a very colourful picture to the international communityy that they are a credible telecoms provider and this is why organizations like FIFA entrust them with one of the most critical factors of the 2010 World Cup.

I jus wish Telkom would stop being so hypocritcal and treat all its customers and clients with the necessary respect and fairness.
