How do these services work? Do they need access to your credit card or bank account? Do you EFT money to it?

Install app on your phone.
Link your credit card to it. I don't know if you can link any other type of cards.
Then take a pic of the image that is linked to the store or restaurant.
Enter the amount.
Hit Pay.
Then the merchant receives a message of the amount.

It does seem that Zappers image on the till slip is linked directly to the actual transaction. I could be mistaken. But I think the amount was there already. I just set the tip percentage and hit pay.

You can also set a password on all of these services. Or - my favorite - with snapscan and an iPhone - you can link it to the finger print. so one less password to remember!

Yeah, the Zapper code is unique for your transaction.

What bugs me are the iPhone reviews of Zapper. Most are happy, a few are not. One suggests credit card fraud, another double deductions and the last one just says it doesn't work. These are for previous versions, but it's a real contrast to SnapScan.

Your cheque card is automatically linked for free. Only Gold credit cards and non bundled Platinum credit cards are charged the R200 fee to be linked for eBucks.

The fee is deducted in your credit card anniversary month, so in your case it means that you got your credit card account in February. Others will have different anniversary months.

From July, it will be deducted on a monthly basis. No longer linked to anniversary. There are the exceptions as listed above.

I just used Zapper at the spur in Cavendish. It was an easy decision - 25bucks off if you pay with it.

Now we established that snapscan is an online transaction. Does anyone know if Zapper is too?
25 bucks off is only for first transaction , isn't it?

I'm on private wealth. The cheque card is linked. I can link the cc for R200pa.
If the cc is not linked, does that mean I wont earn ebucks on it?

Yay. Only second month with FNB and on Lvl 3. It helps following the tips on this forum! :)

CC works wonders!

Yes. It needs to be linked.

Are you sure? I don't understand why the FNB site shows that the cc account is qualified, when it is not linked. Is there an explanation somewhere that explains what all the terms mean - like 'qualified' and 'linked'.

Just checked the bill - yea it is - 25bucks off the first bill... but if its an online transaction - then double ebucks - why the heck not!

Didn't think of the online transaction result - great tip if that is the case.

I also try and use SnapScan wherever I can and if we are a group and need to split the bill, I usually pocket the others cash and settle the bill with SnapScan.

Really getting into this ebucks thing now. Going to try and save up to buy a gas stove from Makro, but going to take about 15 months to get there.

Last time I was at Makro, they insisted on swiping my eBucks cards first before ringing up any of the items. I think it's to prevent a situation as what happened to Carol35. I'll also remember never to enter my eBucks card pin at a point of sale terminal.

I never give my ebucks card at Makro. Neither do I at Checkers or at the garage when I fill up.
I think the FNB card automatically allocates the higher (15% or whatever level you are on) ebucks. No need for the ebucks card. Unless you want to pay with it. Or could I be wrong?

At makro, you need to swipe your ebucks card in order to earn. It is only 0.75% on qualifying goods though. Not worth any extra effort, unless it is a big purchase.

Do you get points for just having an overdraft facility? i.e. Have it but don't make use of it.

Is it better to pay for fuel and toll fees with your credit card or should I get a Petrol card?

On which PW package are you?

Mine says linked, but I don't pay any R200pa fee, I think it is included in there standard bundled package.
