Did some calcs now and I think I'm going to downgrade from PW to PC.

I can hit level 5 on PC pretty easily, whereas on PW it just about gives me level 3. Most of the benefits are the same as well - Priority Pass, SLOW visits etc. except there is now more of them,

What does PW offer over PC besides bragging rights around the braai?

PW you get up to 100% (or up to R500 worth) back in ebucks per month, on your smart device, which is a no-brainer to get for PW.

Then again, if you qualify for PW...its probably not hard to just go out and buy a new smart device every 2 years.

Dude even if you qualify, every cent counts

Woah you reacted super sensitive to that statement. You should relax a bit, because never did I say you can or should just throw money away, I just said that, at that level such a perk probably doesn't mean as much as it would to someone on a lower level.

Not sensitive :) I think you misread me, sorry for confusion. My point is no matter what you earn unless you're raking in millions, it's still not enough ;)

Normally the Shoprite/Checkers vouchers come as Checkers branded. Received Shoprite branded ones today. These can be used at either store, right?

Edit: Back of card says only Shoprite stores :(. Ebucks site says and Shoprite/Checkers/Liquour...

Worked at Checkers and paid an account at the kiosk.

Been twice to Checkers here in Somerset West and they refuse to accept a gift card as payment for an account at the kiosk. Only reason I was thinking of paying an account this way is it would effectively give me 40% of my municipal account.

Here they have some kind of list in a book which they check. Maybe tell them to check the list.

Yeah but to get 100% back you need to be lvl 5 on PW, which I'm not. Without adjusting anything I'll be a lvl 5 on PC.

Even 40% back on lvl 2 is a great perk. But yeah it's better to be on lvl 5, I'd rather get the 40% back in vouchers and be able to choose how to spend it...

For me it's more about the Emirates travel discount - 40% off means it will cost me less than 5k for a return trip to Dubai and 6k to New York. That means I can go twice a year now for around the same price as a normal ticket cost me.

Didn't know flights to New York were so cheap.

Maybe it's just me, but I treat my eBucks like real money, albeit slightly discounted money. Don't forget how much had to be spent to earn those eBucks!

Can you please do me a favour. Please ask the person at the counter if you can book a local flight using the gift card. I need to purchase a local flight and this method will save me a lot of moola. I have asked on numerous occasions and nobody at checkers was able to answer my question.

Thank you

June was less than 6 months ago, so if you did a transaction in June, the 6 months would not yet have elapsed. Although picking up a card does not count as a transaction so you must have done something else not to qualify for thse points.

You should be using your credit card for every swipe, including Checkers. Not receiving the eBucks must have been a glitch. These 4000 points will go a long way to helping you hit level 5.

Investigate some of the cheaper devices on offer. Perhaps paying for a cheap device might push you to level 5 where your increased earn can justify the spend. This should be done quite cautiously though, as it is a long contract to sign for eBucks.

Have you included the additional eBucks that you would earn if you were on level 5 as a result of storing the R5k in the Pocket? It might be that the additional eBucks eclipses the amount of interest you're earning, but you'd need to do a careful calculation to determine whether this is the case.

Hey Mythical,

Thanks for the feedback :)

1 - it shows me as not having that bonus from July, but I never did anything in the bank (besides fetching the card) so should I contact anyone? is it worth it? If I have all my spend on my Credit card then I will need 1000 more points to go over to level 5.

2 - I agree, but the one month I lost out on major ebucks from checkers because my spend was on my credit card, so I guess it must have been a glitch... will try it again in October. thanks :)

3 - Yea which is why I have always been cautious to do it, I dont have a need for any of those devices and I can still technically get points elsewhere that will push me to level 5.

4 - I haven't actually considered this no, but I would then temporarily lose the 2 000 points from having R2 500 in a savings account, so at the moment it wouldnt be worth it, only once I have more money put away somewhere! :)

Thanks so much again! Lets hope I can increase my spend to earn more ebucks :D

Agreed. It's how the rich get richer!

I'll quote myself on this one :D ...

22,000 children die of starvation each day ... if you're reading this you're rich.

Also ...
If you earn R25k/month or more, you're in the top 1% of SA earners (...yes , 99th percentile!). I'd say then that most people reading this are at least in the top 10% (top ten percent). That makes us all "rich" (...relative to those around us).
