Tips to Boost your eBucks

Pretty awesome thread guys and gals. Thanks for all the advice.

If discount on smart devices are confirmed not-applicable to platinum holders then I'm downgrading to gold - much easier to maintain maximum reward level on gold.

IMO the rules are out of wack in rewarding holders of higher level accounts. I qualify for Private Clients but would struggle to maintain level 3, on platinum I just make level 5 and on gold I would have a 5000 points buffer. Qualifying for the account type should be where the difficulty should be and not how it is setup now.

It should be easier for a private clients account holder to reach level 5 than a platinum or gold account and easier for a platinum account than for a gold account.

I sent off a request to downgrade my private clients credit card to a platinum card to be in line with my cheque account.
OK, in that regard whatever grade (Gold, Platinum, PC) one qualifies for, their eBucks Rewards rules seem to expect you to qualify like two times over in order to reach level 5. Taking Platinum as an example, one has to be close to PC requirements in order to easily reach level 5 on Platinum.

PrivateClient hoops:

Use between 20% and 100% of your overdraft facility on your FNB Private Clients Cheque account - 3000 points
-> as simple as transferring calc'ed amount into savings pocket for a few days and then transferring back into cheque account?
-> yes, there will be a monthly FNB charge for utilizing the overdraft facility

Have an Investment Account with an average monthly balance of R50000 - 1000 points
Have a scheduled monthly transfer into a Flexi Fixed or My Notice Deposit account of R5000 or more per month - 2000 points
->as simple as transferring 50K into a MyNoticeDeposit and then a scheduled monthly 5K
-> so in effect 1 investment vehicle and scoring two separate point allocations (1000+2000)

thanks in advance!

As far as I understand it, it's average usage over the month for the overdraft.

Does MyNotice count as an investment account?

Naw I don't think so. I am at the bottom end qualifier for Platinum, but I worked out, I will just just make enough points to be on level 5 each month. I will admit, the single only reason for that is, the 3000 point boost from having a bond. Doesn't make me happy but I can live with it.

+1 If I had a bond I would make it easier, unfortunatly I am not ready to buy yet. I do have car with westbank though (but that doesn't even count for anything).

Im currently on 16250 points according to my spend on the new rules. Will have to keep my will with them, and find 10k somewhere to invest in a 32 day account.

picked up from FNB -> https://www.fnb.co.za/downloads/private-clients/FNB_Private_Clients_T_and_C.pdf doc is not 100% up to date, but I would imagine below is still valid...

In order to collect points for using your Overdraft Facility, your Overdraft utilisation must be between 20% and 100% of your Overdraft Facility for at least 24 hours of a business day.

Some queries about the Gold points up for collection:
Gold_Ebucks2014.jpg

1. "Monthly spend" means what exactly? All spending including EFTs/debit orders/transfers etc, or just Point of Sale transactions?
2. Would two Smart devices qualify for 1000 points? For how long should the R500 be in the savings pocket? For the duration of the month, or only for a certain amount of days? (I dont have money to lie around gathering dust! :) )
3. FNB Gold Account - I assume they mean either the cheque account OR the credit card right?
4. Eish, with so many places wanting to see monthly bank statements when opening up accounts etc this could be tricky. Can one get sufficient statements at ATM's that will do the trick?

Quick question about eBucks earning rules.

If it says that you get 15% back on fuel purchases, does that mean that for every R100 spent on fuel, you will get R15 back in eBucks? Or 15 eBucks (R1.50)?

150 ebucks

Having had a closer look at the reward rules, I would end up being level 3 on platinum. Not sure it is worth it for me.

I can't get through to the eBucks person I normally deal with.
Went via the callcentre, but an utter waste of my time and money, 4 people later and they are still ****ing clueless.
I feel for the callcentre staff, more than likely have not been furnished with proper info - pulling grey hairs out!

I also only realised the other day that you can only earn ebucks on fuel purchases for up to 20% spend on your account. So if you spend R10k, only R2k of fuel will earn you ebucks. I lost out on a looooooooooooot of ebucks :D

So where are you hoarding all that extra fuel that you bought
