Has anyone checked if their card-not-present (e.g. online international purchase or Netflix/unotelly) transactions got them the 1500 points for 'swiping' abroad?

Apparantly you only get it on gold because it is viewed as an online purchase. You do not get the points on platinum if you do not physically swipe the card.

doubt it will matter as their systems are not functioning correctly, so until that is resolved, we will not really know what influences these payments really have :(

I got those points, but definitely did not swipe it abroad. I'm hoping that one of the many small online payments somehow counts as a swipe, but yes, no way to really know until it all stays the same for a few months in a row.

Looked at the reward points again, they cannot even do simple addition.
I added all the points I earned, got a sum of 2000 points more that what they show as me earning in Nov.
This dropped me a reward level. Seriously have my doubts on this atm.

They canceled my Petro card "by accident" beginning on November so missed those 2000 points. K@ked them out and they are sending new cards which I can pickup this weekend.
The system also had a "bug" where I wasn't assigned the 2000 points for not going over my credit card limit in the last twelve months. Everybody was supposedly affected by it. K@ked them out about it also, and got the same story that if will be fixed by the 8th.

So the screwed me over by 4000 points which would have put me on 20000 and level 5.
They are going to correct the errors and award me the missing eBucks I would have earned in Nov with the higher level, but nothing has happened about it as yet.

My theory is that they where losing too much money on eBucks so decided to change the way it works and introduced the "bugs" and canceling of cards by "accident" themselves. They where hoping people would miss it and not complain, and with that they would save money because everybody would be on lower levels. Two of my friends who work for other department than eBucks in FNB off the record also agree with me. They themselves are also getting screwed over by the new rules and "mistakes".

Your friends truly should know better and refrain from speculation especially seen as they know nothing about it

fair enough iDOL, so educate us outsiders with what is actually happening, because from the outside it is piss_poor.

+1. I seem to be getting short changed in fuel rewards in recent months, but let me come back with the actual figures and not add to the speculation

Can you earn eBucks by having a Gold Credit Card only without banking with FNB - yes or no or do you get ore benefits with a platinum card
You can, but to truly score you need to do ALL your banking with FNB. i.e. in your example above I'd guess its not worth bothering with.

On a related note, I got charged the eBucks fee on my credit card for the first time in years. :wtf: Is that fee meant to be applied?... because I have credit card and cheque card both on platinum.

Since the new rules my ebucks earn is about 10x what it was.

That fee was always there, but it is only once a year and only if you had your credit card linked, which is why most people would have missed it.

The only way to get the discount, is if you are on the bundled platinum credit and cheque card accounts. If you have them both but on non-bundled payment plan, you don't get the discount. For me it was easy to resolve, I just phoned in to the platinum call centre, asked them what the differences is in being bundled and non-bundled, and then told them to switch me to the bundled plan and give me back the money paid for ebucks linking. Which they did without a problem. The issue was, to find out you need to be on bundled option, which I wasn't aware of, because my CC and Cheque account was upgraded separately from gold to platinum.

Confirmed with FNB that you have physically swipe the card outside of SA. Why bother even adding that ad a rule? How often will that happen anyway?

Never attribute to malice what can appropriately be explained by incompetence.

I have been on platinum for both since about 2009 and have made no changes regarding linking that I can recall. (my credit card has been linked to my cheque account for years)

I am on Fee-Saver for my platinum cheque account. Does this imply my accounts are not bundled or on a bundled plan?

I noticed that with the new Platinum rules they expect all the cardholders to act like rich hotshots that have large investments and fly around the world.

They just want you to use credit because it makes them a lot of money. More than they will ultimately have to pay out to you as eBucks.

My profile still hasn't been updated since I downgraded my account, still shows as being on reward level 1 whereas I should be on 5 with combined cheque/credit accounts. Not going to harass them yet but hope it updates soon as I have done some huge swipes since my downgrade but would imagine it would only reflect on my ebucks at the end of December?
