No need for petrol or Checkers but some retailers require it like Makro and Dischem.

You are wrong. At makro you earn ebucks on non food items (there is a list online). If you don't swipe your ebucks card, you don't earn.

The same at incredible connection. I once bought stuff, didn't swipe my card ... and didn't get any ebucks.

At Checkers and fuel stations you use your credit card or debit card when buying to earn.

Would love to hear if other FNB customers saw the same as what I am saying
 
You need to read the rules for each retailer, e.g.:

Makro:

And check this sneaky rule:

You can't earn eBucks:

if you pay with a voucher or gift card,
on prescriptions,
if you buy airtime,
if you redeem your Dis-Chem loyalty or benefit points,
if you buy plastic bags.

That was Dischem.

Don't know if it means you get no eBucks if you buy a bag or just no eBucks for the bag. Seems odd to mention it if the latter, how may eBucks can you earn for 40c?

For the spending between 10% and 90% is this of your total limit for budget + straight or just for the straight limit?
 
Tried to buy checkers vouchers with ebucks on the ebucks store today, and it wasn't applying discounts.

Yeah, you should be buying with your card at checkers to make the most of the 15% earn rate. Makro vouchers are where it's at...

When you earn a minimum of eB60k every month (like my boss), Checkers earn is a drop in the ocean :p.
 
Cashiers at Dischem always ask you if you have an eBucks card and at Makro they don't even bother.
 
No discount on iTunes vouchers on the eBucks store anymore.

Not that it's the end of the world as I can buy a iTunes card at Makro with discounted vouchers, it's just a bit inconvenient.

Or buy iTunes vouchers at Checkers to get eBucks. Many ways to play the game, it mostly depends on your end game - eBucks for luxuries or eBucks for necessities.

If one is relying on eBucks discounts to get their necessities, they're doing something wrong financially IMO. I see it as a way of boosting my earn by buying things that I would have to anyway - then use the eBucks discount on nice-to-haves...
 
I agree. I use the necessities to earn more ebucks. Buy groceries at Checkers ect. Then use the discounted ebucks for "nice to haves".

Worst option to spend eBucks is by using them directly at Takealot/Zando/OneDayOnly/Makro/etc or buying vouchers on ebucks store without discount

Next worse way is to buy discounted vouchers where you have significant ebucks earn (Checkers 15%) if you use your credit/cheque card

eg. Assuming you're on RL5 if you spend R100 at checkers, you get eB150 which you can use for R25 vouchers, effectively a 25% reward. If you used discounted checkers vouchers, you are effectively giving up on this 25% earn. Of course it depends if you're buying something you ordinarily wouldn't buy then it wouldn't matter as much as Mike Hoxbig alluded to.

Best way to spend your eBucks is on vouchers where your earn would be lowest if you used your Credit Card
