Tiredness / Fatigue

Lets make him feel better (if true) 38yrs old :D?

Lol close, I'm 37. I weigh 114kg and I'm 1.95m tall.

Now my weight is still a bit high I need to lose another 10kg or so, but I'm down from 125kg in the middle of last year.

If applicable, smoking takes a massive bite out of your energy levels. A week or two after quitting you will feel like a new person, energy-wise.

To be honest, I think a lot of people feel this way. I'm exactly the same. Some people just need lots of sleep. I can't get by with anything less than 10 - 12 hours sleep.

1.95m? Maybe your nick should be giantman88 :D

lol, I have a few freinds that are taller than I am. They are ectomorphic tho, whereas I am messomorphic.

Yea I havent smoked in 15 years, except for the odd cherry cigar.

10 hours! Damn. That means I have to be in bed by 8 :p

Lol. I am out of work at the moment, but when I was working, it was hell. I used to go to bed past 10/11 the night and then I am vrek moeg the next morning :D

Have a look at a drug called Modafinil, it's used to treat narcolepsy and excessive daytime sleepiness.

I've tried a few when I've needed to stay awake for long periods of time and they work like a bomb without making you jittery like caffeine or ephedrine. They also have a good effect on focus and concentration.

Sounds good, can you hook us up in DBN area :D....perhaps take this to PM :p

Might want to have your Doc check your THT hormone, I have an underactive Thyroid. I went to the doctor because I felt tired no matter how many hours sleep I had the night before, I was sleeping 32 hours on some weekends.
I take eltroxin now, I don't get tired anymore, bowl of oats, gym, chicken salad for lunch and then much the same for dinner. check your carbohydrate intake after midday, try to reduce and eliminate if possible.

It could very well be that. My wife has an underactive thyroid as well and she also uses eltroxin. She's still tired, though :p

i have read a few studies in the past that too much sleep can be very bad for you in the long term. 7 - 9 hours i optimum I think. Also quality of sleep is exceptionally important. Is there anything that wakes you up at night? Does your partner snore? Time for a new matress?

Try cut out all caffeine based products, if you drink alcohol - drink less, eat healthier. A friend of mine has low iron in her blood, she gets tired very quickly. Have that and your blood pressure checked out at a GP!

And lastly, are you under significant stress, short or long term?

Women generally have low levels of iron in their blood due to menstruation. That's why they're always advised to take iron supplements.

Hell, I'm just not making it through the day anymore. I feel like i'm about to pass out at my desk I'm so tired.

All my life I have gone to bed at 11ish and woken up at around 6. For the last few weeks it really feels like I need an afternoon nap. I have been going to bed at 9ish and waking up at six but the extra two hours is making no difference.

Do you like your job, do you find it stressful or are you developing 'I could not give a fsck' attitude towards your job?

It might not be anything physical or medical related.

I was able to answer and quit my job 8 months ago, studying now but its difficult but am hanging in there for what its worth :D.

Always good to evaluate how you feel about work. "ponder" this question :p

Yoh some decidedly adventurous advice in this thread.

I'd recommend asking your doc to check your thyroid (harmless blood test). While your there ask him about sleep apnea too. The other 2 prime candidates have already been mentioned (iron & vit B). On the diet side, you'd want to stick to a low GI diet.

Have a look at a drug called Modafinil
Maybe trying some other options first is a good plan. ;) That would involve either getting a doc to write a sketchy script or buying from a sketchy website.
