So today I test drove the Chevrolet Sonic 1.6LS. Such a nice lil car, this is after driving the VW Polo Vivo 1.4.

I am looking to purchase a car withing R100 000 and R130 000 range and the Sonic has more features than the Vivo but not much reviews on it. Anyone with experience on the car can please drop some advice and critic about it.

I'd go for the sonic. It's got more power than the Vivo, more features and looks better. It's a great little hatchback.

The only draw back is resale value. The Vivo has a much better resale value than the Sonic.

Buying a car on resale value is silly, especially if you're going to keep it for awhile.
The Vivo is a 14 year old body shape with possible over tech in it, the sonic is newer and looks better.

Plus less hijack risk and lower insurance premiums.

My brother in law has the sonic ,pretty decent ride. Has not given any problems.

Make sure get 2013+ model which has the touch screen and steering wheel controls.

That is one of the newer models for sale.

Vivo is POS ,nowhere near the standard of the sonic ,it is basically a citi golf in a old polo body.

The one I was driving is a 2014 model, it has the touch screen display, bluetooth, electric windows and mirrors.
The price is very tempting considering the mileage on it (R125 000 at 50K on the clock).

So I got and offer from William Hunt via WestBank, and I have a feeling I am being screwed. The installment will be R3100 @ 14% interest rate, "14%". How do I go about negotiating a better interest?

What is the period? If it's 54 months or less they seem to nail you on interest, if you don't have a deposit they nail you on interest. If it's around R100k they nail you on interest, well this is from my experience :-(

I've got a 1.6 sonic and am pretty happy with it, got the sedan 2012 and it rides well with around 13km/l. Lots of car for the price, can't go wrong.

Negotiate with the dealership, 14% is hellva high.

You ask them.
