ToC Disconnects

seems to be better for me these days, i raided cc 25 man fine yesternight without dcing once with 350ms. i use to dc on gornek but then i can come back in just in time to taunt back boss :). Im using mtn hsdpa which is one of the ****test isp u can get. my friend with noetel disconnect every second ,thought neotel will be pretty good.

Last night was a nightmare. Had to call off the 25 raid in TOC could not get through the beasts encounter without at least 7 dc'ed people including me who are tanking which didn't go down so well. Seemd to happen right after the pull each time.

So 10 of us when to Uldaur and picked up at Thoruim I was tanking the arena and 2 tries later with me dc'ing both we called it a night. Had to go fishing seemed the only safe thing to do.

Another thing you can try is, to let the people that suffer the worst from DC's... disable ALL sct's ... disable EVERYTHING in their combat log, set their screen resolution down to crappy detail, off load everything that can hog cpu time, and upon pull, let them stand way at the back of the instance without even clicking / facing / targeting the boss, once the first 10 sec's have passed, they should be able to resume in the encounter without dropping... Its all about surviving the initial burst of data.

The above mentioned tactic seems to work for some people, so I am gonna try it this week when the instance reset.
I am gonna do this in conjunction with replacing my MPQ files as stated by the forum poster of the link I pasted at the top.

i am now at a stage that i could just throw the towel...one week of problems and no solution

Tried yesterday 25 man new wintergrasp boss, each and every pull I got disconnected. 10 man was ok, although huge lags...could sometimes not even see my casts. But they got through by spamming the keys, and damage was ok as well. However, its no fun if not running smooth

Just doing dailies...having latency of 700-800ms...it used to be 350-450ms.

I don't have a clue where the problems are, on speedtest.net i get a ping to a Joburg server of 28ms, then I tried a server in europe, which was 550ms, and one in the US, which was around 700ms. its still better then what i am getting ingame...

Nothing has changed on my PC...I am still using the same UI as before, and just a week ago it was all ok, at least playable.

Have disabled the combat log and some of the addons though...without seeing any difference

let them stand way at the back of the instance without even clicking / facing / targeting the boss, once the first 10 sec's have passed, they should be able to resume in the encounter without dropping... Its all about surviving the initial burst of data.

tried that...without success

OK but did you read the thread linked in my earlier post ?

Seems the patch that was released recently broke some people's MPQ files and the only way to fix it is via redownloading them, or copying it from someone else's pc that doesnt suffer from DC's. I havent been able to test it myself as I am inbetween guilds and till I rejoin a new guild, I cant really test it.

Hope the method in the link works... but yes its a very common problem.

This simple solution guide addresses only one type of disconnection problem, so please make sure you meet ALL of the following criteria, otherwise you might only be wasting your time. Section 3 has info for other kinds of disconnection problems.

- Your disconnection problems did NOT exist prior to the Aug 17th patch. no, there were occasional problems before, and it was fixed somehow by Telkom, always for a month or 2
- You are being constantly disconnected and returned to the login screen with the message: "You have been disconnected from the server"
- Your disconnections are not dependent on any specific action you are doing in-game, such as attending a large raid or pulling mobs. only getting dc'ed in raids
- Your disconnections can happen at any time, and do. They occur just as often when you're out in the middle of an unpopulated zone fishing as they do while walking through Dalaran. no
- You are being disconnected at LEAST every 10-20 minutes, but sometimes it can happen every 3-5 minutes as well.
- Your disconnects happen quickly, sometimes freezing for only a moment before being kicked back to the login screen. You can log back in each time without a problem.
- This problem has been going on consistently for at least a week or more.
- Checking Files with the Repair Tool has not helped at all.

I am hesitant to download 4gigs of data for nothing...especially because it will be at R110 a gig....

After the patch was released i had no problems...although i have to say that for the first 2.5 weeks after the release i was playing wow in germany, on HSDPA, with the same hardware....without a single problem.
Just that leads me to believe that there is something wrong with the SA network.
problem is not only dc's, this happens only in 25man raids...its even the high latency during questing, or just standing around in an unpopulated area. The simple tournament daily where you have to be on a horse and challenge the other factions...atm impossible.

My problem is different then... its ONLY on the beasts of northrend part for me.

Only till ol Icehowl is dead, am I allowed to log back in and rejoin the raid.

I dont suffer from any DC's anywhere else.

I use to on thorim, but its sorta fixed nowdays.

I dont think its the network as such since there are people I know of, on the same network as me, also doing the encounter just fine without any DC's.
I tried switching between all networks + jumping via proxy and no success... always DC spot on as soon as the first boss encounter starts.

what is your latency atm? like said, mine used to be at the worst 500ms...now at its best 700ms, but more often close to 1000ms

Through SAIX unshaped around 450 / 500 MS
Through Verizon unshaped direct - 370 / 380 MS
Proxied via SAIX unshaped around 400 MS
Proxied via Verizon unshaped 270 / 280 MS <-- This is my preferred connection for playing.

Its not latency thats the problem... of that I am pretty sure.
Its a buffering data burst thing... well that's my theory in any case.

another toc id down the drain...just had app. 6 dc's at the beasts, and 4 at the demon, then left the raid.
Just for fun I went on Lightbringer earlier on, to see what kind of latency i have there. I got a lvl 3 char there. it wasn't any better in the starting area.

There was someone questing from SA...I asked him what kind of latency he has...it was 200ms, something i never had before.

think i will try axxess out this weekend. hoping that it will make a difference

Tried my 3G card this afternoon as well...also bad.

Or any other alternative as my current ISP does not seem to get this right again?
Is it possible that my router is messing me around?

like said before, i am the only one with these problems in our guild...and i could play fine whilst in germany 2 weeks ago.

I am on Axxess, 2Gb unshaped on 384 ADSL line. First two bosses I spend looking at either the 'You have been disconnected' or the login screen.

Spoke to techies at Axxess, and he proposed buying the 1Gb prepaid account for raiding, as it uses IS and not SAIX. Will try that this weekend, hopefully it will be better as I am in danger of losing a regular raid spot.

last 3 weeks

Since about the 20th August I could not stay logged into wow for longer than 10 min. I have 4mb unshaped from telkom. This week I bought prepaid axxess unshaped. Still same problem.

1) I deleted wow wtf files and cache. No addons.
2) I replaced my new linksys router with a new Negear NG200 i bought 2 days ago.
3) replaced my wireless connection with a cable.
4) checking mBB to see if other south africans is having problems since about after the patch.

I started playing crappy roseZA just because of pure bordem but want to get my wow working.. I lost my regular raid spot as a warlock, luckly after i got my Ulduar acheivements but really really want to get playing again.

Does anyone know if some one is doing work on cables and stuff without telling us it will affect our connection so they can still continue to rip us off for it?

so...did a tracert while i was questing, ingame it was showing me a latency of 3500ms...standing still and doing nothing anymore.

does anyone know where the ingame latency comes from? i guess the 300ms is not soooo bad?

I am with Axxess semi-shaped on a 384k line.

Was having major issues with latency in the above mentioned fights but in the last week or so (with the exception of one day) it has been fine.

I almost fell off my chair when I didn't disconnect on Thorim! There was a bit of lag at the beginning though.

since friday afternoon everything back to normal, although i don't have a clue why???

All i did was calling tech support of my ISP, and i submitted a tracert to the tech support forum of Blizzard.

i have not done any changes to my setup.

Latency is back to normal, although not great at around 550ms, but its stable. Went raiding in 10 and 25 man grps, and it was all fine. No dc's in 10man TOC

Tom (don't trust it yet, will keep monitoring) :D

I am experiencing the same problems! Sigh nobody has a solution yet! I will be taking my pc to a different location to verify for sure that there is no issue with the connection

Please also go complain on the official support site... my posts there are common in the TOC Beasts of northrend disconnections thread... go go go bump em... let blizzard know more people are suffering from it.

Changed to Prepaid Axxess account
Deleted and re-installed all mods
Updated Graphics driver
Upgraded from 2Gb memory to 4Gb
Removed and re-installed NIC drivers

One or more of the above resolved my problem. I do Northrend beasts around 450-500ms / PvP event < 400 MS.
E6600 Core 2 Duo / 4Gb / XP SP3 / 384 Kbps ADSL / 9800GTX graphics card.
I only raid with DBM / Recount / Omen active.
