There were three young Italian gymnasts Luigina Giavotti, Ines Vercesi and Carla Marangoni, who competed in 1928 in the women's team allround event, winning a silver medal. Luigina Giavotti was just 11 years and 301 days old, the others were 12 years and 99 days (Vercesi) and 12 years and 269 days old (Marangoni). The youngest ever female medal winner in an individual Olympic Games event was Inge Sørensen of Denmark, who was 12 yrs, 24 days old when she won a bronze medal in the 200m Breaststroke in 1936.


The youngest confirmed male Olympic medalist is Greek gymnast Dimitrios Loundras (born on September 4, 1885), who competed in the 1896 Athens Olympics. He was only 10 years old. :oops:


The oldest male Olympic medalist is generally considered to be Swedish shooter Oscar Swahn. He won a silver medal in 1920 when he was 72 years, 281 days old.

Having watched the men's 100m and 200m finals, anyone think Bolt's records will be broken within the next couple decades?

In the 200m yes. With a bit more steroids the guy who was leading the men's 200m would have broken the record (Noah Lyles). He tired at the end and was overtaken.
Also the 17 year old Erriyon Knighton will likely improve in a few more years.

Kinda sad: some of us go through great lengths to avoid c***s and people fighting amongst each other about who said what and other bullshit and then all that effort is undone by somebody posting their stupid tweets here :( :ROFL:

Watching the evening session now. I see more people have fallen in the long distance running events. I can't remember so many runners falling in previous Olympics or am I just forgetful?
