Toll gate and bikers

Shame shame shame.

After reading about the hassle of having remove gloves , open a zipper and make a payment at a toll gate, I realize what a hassle and inconvenience it must be.

It's the same hassle if you desperately wanted to go to the toilet. In that case, do you just let it go in your pants .... filthy people.

And to the guy who made the dare above :
I accept

It’s no hassle or drama for me.

It’s the impatient people in cars that are hassled.

You would think being stuck in that box most of their lives they would have gotten used to it by now.

You're ridiculous. The retort to you was to insult your intelligence and your manhood because your post quality invites it... Nothing else.
As for jealous, let's put this into context: I drove to work this morning wearing a t-shirt and drinking a cup of coffee.

Most of the riders here go through all the hassle of paying tolls, if you follow the discussion, but in doing so we have to deal with impatient car drivers behind us because we are taking to long to do it properly for their liking.

It is almost as if most car drivers don't really understand the additional problems you need to deal with if you ride a motorcycle. For instance the entrances at Centurion Mall has anti roll bumps at the boom gate, wonderful for your car but problematic for a motorcycle since 1) it has to stop with wheels on top of two small bumps that prevents cars from rolling back 2) balance on one leg because your left is on the back brake to prevent you from rolling back 2) lean over to to get a ticket with your right hand (front brake hand) 3) shove it in a pocket somewhere or in your mouth 4) say sorry to the annoyed car behind you and then pull off or you can just jump the curb.

Is this fact or your opinion? Seems odd that things become invisible in certain spots. A bike/car will always be in a blind spot at some point when passing another vehicle. Whether on the white line or in the middle of the lane.

Humans are exceptionally good at pattern recognition... this has the side effect of making things that do not fit the pattern disappear sometimes. 99% of the time on the road you expect cars to be around you, because that is what is there 99% of the time. So your brain looks for those markers (2 lights on the side, a certain size, etc). So once in a while when you see a bike, your brain decides its not part of the pattern and discards it. This is a gross oversimplification of how it usually happens

You've got to read up on several topics like change blindness, visual attention and a couple of others I don't recall right now to understand this. The fact stands though that when a car and a motorcycle are in an accident (and the car driver is at fault), you almost always hear them say "I didn't see you" irrespective of how many lights, reflective vests, etc the motorcyclist may have employed to try be more visible.

So given all that a motorcyclist should be riding in a space that is least likely to be occupied by a distracted driver, as a measure of self preservation. And that is one of the reasons why the outsides of a lane are preferred.

Yeah, gloves are not the issue. On a bike, my wallet is either on the inside of my leather jacket, in a backback, or in a pannier.

So yes, you have to take gloves off, but that's not a MAJOR thing, yet not comparable to opening a car window. Now to take out the wallet from where it is, all this while getting off the bike. Now this only takes a minute or so, but a minute at a toll gate is a long time. Throw the finger at an impatient driver hooting at you? Typical biker. :crylaugh:
