Toll gate and bikers

He might have paid and decided to skip the boom because its too much effort to insert the ticket, it is what I do.

Because of the gloves?

Because of the gloves?

Maybe, I usually mangle the ticket handling it with gloves trying to shove it in a pocket while awkwardly balancing on bumps designed to stop cars rolling backwards.

8 buttons and two zips to get to the inside pockets for the riding jacked I am using today.

You poor little thing! I can only imagine the fear, frustration and total panic having to undo buttons causes.
Does mummy not have the option of following you to help dress you like she does in the mornings?

Point or just jealous that I get to work warmer than most car drivers on a cold winter morning?

Not in this case, he came from behind, stopped left of a car that was busy paying, and proceeded through with the car

It’s funny because European bikers have a colder climate, all have gloves and warm jackets and they all pay their tolls without NFC.

Would they have found a magic trick to take out the magic glove ?

Anyway, it’s the law, you pay tolls and put your tickets in parkings. I’d actually be ready to pay for one to be arrested, the excuses here are such utter BS.

When I forget my wallet in my jacket which is at the back of the car or in the boot, I still pay my toll, I don’t tailgate somebody...

For the tariff excuse, my car is 500kg lighter than a Ranger, why would I pay the same price than a Ranger ? Shouldn’t I get a different price ? It’s the tariff, you pay it. You can write to SANRAL or MPs to complain, did you even try bikers ?

Keeping in the centre of a lane in traffic is dangerous on a bike. People are conditioned to look for big objects on the road when passing and such. They don't look for bikers.

Does driving on the white line make bikers more visible then? If so, how?

Visible in side mirrors. Often people can't see out of their centre mirror because there are 3 kids running around on the back seat blocking the view.

And, driving in the middle of a lane IS more dangerous, because that's where cars drip their oil...

Hahahahaha...OMG. The excuses are becoming more ridiculous by the minute. The effort from the gloves and the mortal danger of...THE ROAD....how are any of you left alive even? If any of you WANTED to pay tolls, you would have, but you don't want to and are trying to wriggle out of it with the most ridiculous schit I've read in my entire life.

Jissus, I'm embarrassed for your sake...

Have you ever ridden a bike in traffic?
I started this year. It's absolutely mind-boggling how many drivers are not concentrating properly on the road. Sitting in your car you might observe maybe 10 drivers during your rush hour trip. I see a hundred or more. MANY of them on cellphones or otherwise distracted. Just the other day I watched a woman accelerate away from a traffic light straight into the back of the car in front of her. She was still accelerating when she hit him... So a biker should sit in front of someone like that and get mangled?

The oil drips thing is straight out of the BMW novice rider training. Do you dispute their knowledge and advice?

As a biker you are extremely vulnerable on the road. A bumper bashing in a car is nothing but an inconvenience to a car driver. It means broken bones to a biker. Excuses? I don't think so.

And no, I haven't been through a tollgate on my bike. But I do know it would be a fcking mission. Would I pay? Probably would figure out a way.
So, stop generalising, you're embarrassing yourself.

I use exactly the same gear they do. I also do pay my tolls and parking it just takes longer. The best example I can give is for people paying tolls in cars. Have your card inside your denim back pocket the next time you pay a toll and only drive of when you have put it back and re-fastened your seat belt.

I fully support this. Nobody that already pay fuel levies should pay more toll fees.
Great that bikers found a way around the thieving government.

Did I say I was an expert?

I related my experiences. What's your experience, apart from fairly lame ad hominems?

I've already related my experiences with bikers and commented on the absolute ridiculousness of the "Glove Defence" ( move over O.J. Simpson)...

Really don't see why Motorcycles have to pay toll. When I visited Brazil there is a special gate for motorcycles, with a slalom to keep cars out with no payable toll needed. This was actually really product full and speeded thing up

Glove defence is stupid. We have biometric access control at our complex so I have to stop, remove the glove, scan my finger, put the glove back on and hope I make it before the boom closes twice a day all the while "holding up traffic".

What's the rush? Take 20 seconds and stop being a problem.

I would agree, see my post above.
Still don't see why motorcyclists need to pay toll, there are some countries where they don't need to

The umpteenth post using gloves as an excuse. What are these gloves that bikers wear that are nearly impossible to take off? Do they somehow magically fuse with the skin of the hand after a few minutes of riding?

C'mon people what is the difference:

Bike stops, puts bike in neutral, TAKES MAGIC GLOVE OFF and hands over money.
Car stops, puts car in neutral, ROLLS DOWN WINDOW and hands over money.

Also since when are bikers suddenly so sensitive to a car behind them at the tolls that MAY contain a person that becomes impatient and, shock and horror, HOOTS at them? This from people that drive how they want, lane split in an illegal way ( not implying lane splitting IS illegal ), kicks off side mirrors when "provoked" etc. etc.

Pull the other one, please...

Firstly let me state that it’s not an excuse on my part, I happily pay my tolls.

But taking gloves off, getting money pit especially if tucked inside of jacket where it’s safest, getting gloves back on CORRECTLY can take a matter of minutes.

And yes they are designed to conform to your hands and be as tight as possible because it’s fricken safer equipment.

Over a couple of weeks a new pair of gloves will only fit my hands and nobody else’s correctly or comfortably.

Depending on the glove you are taking about multiple fasteners between zips and Velcro what not.

Meanwhile Pietie behind you is losing his **** so either you do it wrong putting them back on or you take your time and do it either.

Inevitably Pietie comes chasing you down and gives you the finger or literally aims at you with his car, both situations I’ve witnessed multiple times.

FYI I’ve also never kicked anyone’s mirror and I do believe I split perfectly legally.

I have however literally been knocked from behind at a garage because of an impatient knob riding his clutch and not paying attention...while there was an open lane next to me.

Of course when I walked back to his car fully kitted to ask what the issue was the window went up like a lighting bolt and suddenly we were very very sorry.

There are lots of ****e out there in all kinds of vehicles. Don’t be one of them.
