Top Billing presenter Simba Mhere accident trial

I think when you roll you can hit your head on the side or even swing your neck the wrong way... can easily kill.

I can only assume they were in the White vehicle. Car rolled and they didn't have safety belts on. See the sun roof next to the car? Having your head squashed by the weight of the car in a tumble I would assume results in an Instakill.

It's the below car, note the two bodies, of the 2 people killed:

What you don't see in the picture is Simba's Mitsubishi Mirage showing severe side impact damage.

But if they weren't wearing seatbelts (because bodies outside, except if they were moved outside by someone else) then Naidoo should not be treated too harshly.

There was a 3rd car involved, not sure if it was more or less damaged than the 2 in the pic

There were three cars White VW Polo Vivo, Silver Mazda (shown in the pic) and then White Mitsubishi Mirage (Simba's car) that sustained sever side impact from the VW Polo Vivo

Blocked at work. Will check at home.

I don't think they would have died if they were in a decent, bigger car like my Volvo V40... Sad that these small cars offer little protection to their drivers

Thats wht happens when motor vehicle costs go up insanely such that small cars now need to be light on safety too.

This is it.

Even with seatbelts and no direct impact to the body, coming to a dead stop (even from 60kmph according to some tests) can cause enough internal damage to be fatal. Higher speeds can literally liquify the organs.

No no, speed doesn't kill and we should be allowed to drive 200km/h... according to some morons here with 0 understanding of physics.

Similar to the food industry. You're getting a lot less sustenance/value while costs are increasing.

Pretty soon you'll be getting the safety of a Datsun at the cost of a Merc.

Simba Mhere trial dealt yet another delay

JOHANNESBURG - The trial against the man accused of killing Top Billing presenter Simba Mhere has been delayed yet again, this time due to the availability of legal teams involved.

Preshalin Naidoo is facing two counts of culpable homicide for the deaths of Mhere and his friend Kady-Shay O’Bryan, in a crash on William Nicol Drive more than a year ago.

Hence you buy a used merc and get the safety of a new merc.

Dunno how that works with food though...

UPDATE: Naidoo in court again for death of Simba Mhere and friend

Thabiso Laka testified that they were driving on William Nicol Drive, coming back from church travelling towards Monte Casino. He was in the front passenger seat in his mother Valry Laka’s vehicle (a Mazda 2) which was involved in the collision on 31 January 2015.

“We were about to turn onto the N1 to go home… the robot was red, we were slowing down to stop,” said Laka.

^^
“He [Naidoo] was about two steps away from us when he said ‘sorry’ and I could smell alcohol on him,” Laka testified.

Does anyone remember, did they do a blood test on this dude?

Simba Mhere was still alive after car crash, says pathologist

Dr Candice Hansmeyer‚ a pathologist who conducted a postmortem on Mhere and his friend Kady-Shay O’Bryan‚ told the court that the pair sustained multiple injuries.

Mhere’s skull and spinal cord were broken. His right arm was also fractured and dislocated. He had also inhaled blood‚ which‚ according to Hansmeyer‚ shows he was still alive after the impact.
