Top valued brands in SA

I would love to see how this was computed. I cannot see how MTN could possibly be above Woolworths and possibly Shoprite. And Coca Cola is not even on the list, nor are the automakers. Perhaps I am reading wrong.

You are.

Woolworths is small compared to MTN
The Checkers/Shoprite group is very big, but the Shoprite brand not necessarily
Coke is not an SA brand, nor are the automakers.

You are correct sir. Woolworths threw me off as I thought it was owned by Marks Spencer. It is not.

Also, I've done a case study on MTN in Africa as a telecom. They did not get good reviews.

Why not? Many people probably dont know the strength of the company.

Well, my case study was based around the quality of their services. And generally they are absolutely terrible. They focus on fast growth, but do not really establish themselves to offer proper servies. Quanitity over quality basically. You will see that they are in most of the major african countries. They are starting to struggle though, Etisalat and Airtel are giving them a run.

I think this sums my experience with MTN up quite nicely. I know that in the bigger cause of things, I am a gnat but if everyone feels like me, MTN has cause for concern.

I think in the grand scheme of things we should be proud of MTN. They a startup South African company that's half as big as Vodafone. It's quite an achievement!
