The installer probably did a rush job.
 
My installer was here for an hour and I used him because another forumite recommended him, he did say the installation does come with a years guarentee though, so perhaps I should call him out again, although if what another person said earlier that the reason why it is so is because of Sirius 5 which will be launched next year....tsk tsk
 
Finally!! everything got fixed after 2 long weeks of calling and nagging now I just need to make them rectify my account cause I cant be paying for a full month when I was out of action for almost 3 weeks...........
 
TopTV is responding

I have noticed a few positive changes on TopTV.

Two major ones.

I noticed that their BBC picture is no longer in long pictures. It is now really great to watch. It feels normal.

I also noticed that their picture is more stable. I almost forgot that their picture blacks out (or used to). I watched the whole Spain v Switzerland game on TopTV (SABC 1) yesterday (16 June) with absolutely no problems.

Thank you TopTV.

Keep up the good work.

Maybe they took some time to go through all our comments.

Well if they had sorted out this problem, than they are doing a great job, cause everytime i want to watch SWC match, i have to tune to my analogue, inspite of it bein so messy, i could stand watching it than the glitches TTV was showing every 2min :wtf: so perhaps I'LL watch the France Vs Mexico game on TTV, hoping they play a draw, so that Bafana Bafana can go through the next round :confused:

Even if France and Mexico draw and SA beats France, we still need Uruguay to draw with or beat Mexico in the last of the first round matches.

But, anything is possible.

No Probs @ TTV?

Is it me or are there really no problems with the overall functioning of the TopTV system these days?

Aside from the endemic problems such as the size of the picture in picture picture of the EPG and other nigglings there seems to be no other real problems with the way TopTV is working over this WC period.

Is this true for you?

Looks like it. My service is working fine, even installation and activation took only 3 days.
 
had a few channels lose signal for a few seconds over the weekend but not for very long at all (longest was around 2 seconds).
 
My biggest gripe with top tv is that mythbusters is on at the same time as scrubs and family guy :(
 
I have heard that changing channels, does give a slight delay in sound.
You would hear sound, then for a sec or two, no sound, then sound and video would be working again.



Otherwise, not any problems.
 
I'm glad to see that they are showing Top TV "ads", i.e. what's on later and showing on other channels, ect.

I was also having that problem two weeks back when I noticed that the black outs were now none existent. But I have been watching the football on TopTV all the time now since my son (7) appears to find something interesting everytime besides cartoons on DStv.

Switching between TopTV and DStv for the soccer, I notice that the picture is brighter on DStv.

My wife has problems with the brightness of the picture on TopTV. She has to adjust it.

Otherwise, reception is now perfect on TopTV.

Note: the 2 second picture freeze is a regular occurance on DStv during sports games and they have been in business for more than a decade. So I suppose we shouldn't be too worried unless if it gets too much. Perhaps its just blimps in transmissions.
 
I have to share this with all of you. I have been to the website of www.fxafrica.tv to check the schedules for FX for July and Horror! everything will be repeated from Season 1 episode1! That means that after Season 3 of Stargate ends on 13 July 2010, then it goes back to Season 1 episode 1. Same for Entourage, Kojak and everything else on Fox FX on TopTV. The worst thing is it is all repeated in the same timeslots!! Are we idiots? This is unforgivable. I cannot pay premium pay tv prices and get this kind of treatment. Unfortunately I am left with no other option but to cancel TopTV. I really was a big fan of the new player, but this has confirmed my worst fears that their partners, especially Fox will be bringing us repeats and nothing new. Very disappointed. Oh well back to DivX shows and looking at uncapped.
 
Awesome, gives me a chance to watch Stargate from the beginning.
 
So my question is after every 2 months will fox fx repeat everything over again and again..? On Fox Entertainment they have also repeated Moonlighting from Season 1 again after it was already repeated. Repeats I can understand, but repeated on the exact same cycle in the exact same time slot is unforgivable. It is like it is on a loop or something. Repeat Seasons at 01h00 in the morning. I was really hoping for more choice from TopTV. Anyway not the end of the world. I will just put the money in ADSL. I was really hoping for more from pay tv.
