My Top TV lost signal last night. Is this a problem that occurs often? (First time that I have noticed). I waited about 5 minutes and it came back on and then a couple of minutes later is what off again. The dialogue box came up stating you must either press the numbers for a different channel, check connection, might be due to the weather etc
All I know is I sat with one peeved off toddler because he did not see the ending of Rescue Heroes ROFL
Hopefully this was just an isolated case.

Good Day Pearson6,
My apologies for the inconvenience, we will get one of our technical consultants to call you back for assistance.
Regards
TopTV Wizzard
Happened to me too. Same thing a few days ago. Hope it doesn't become a regular thing.
Happened to me as well last night, just before Simpsons (so about 19:30).
Came back on as I got something else ready to watch
You, guys need to remember rain in Luxemburg where the uplink is,not only downlink.
Toptv will never build themselves a own playout center with uplinkstation in SA.They simply don't need it and it will be costly. For a uplink to be from SA you need dedicated point to point c-band transmissions for all channels to South Africa.
If,and if they have enough local channels to fill up a transponder, about 20 in mpeg4,they will simply use Globecast.
Globecast can also cover live events locally.
Only if they have a full transponder full of content it make financial sense to do a uplink locally because the fibre costs to Europe for that will be too high.
No.I was advised that the uplink was in Kazakhstan.
Randburg...by OrbicomWhere is the NoChoice uplink?
Randburg...by Orbicom
Their channels are delivered mostly via c-band,like
BBC,CNN,Discovery on IS10
Orbicom (Pty) Ltd, was registered in 1993, and grew to become a leading edge satellite communications company, which was acquired by MTN Group Holdings, formerly known as MCell Limited, in September 1999. On December the 6th, 2005, MultiChoice Africa (Pty) Ltd procured this tried and tested leading provider of wireless communications solutions and services in Africa who are ideally positioned to design, install and maintain wireless communication networks.
Orbicom provides the satellite services from which MultiChoice provides premier television entertainment on its DStv bouquets to more than 1.2 million subscribers in nearly 50 countries in Africa, as well as adjacent Indian Ocean Islands.
So Orbicom is a NoChoice company. No chance then of TopTV using them??
This is important to note. TopTv have said that their core business is strictly Satellite TV. Strictly Content Distributors. It is a similar situation in the UK. You have the the huge BskyB content producers and distributors and Virgin Media who have positioned themselves now as just content distributors. They have sold all their "in house" channels like Bravo! to Sky. Virgin have also just won a court case against Sky on the grounds of "Unfair Adavantage" and now Sky have to sell their
in-house sports channels to Virgin Media at cost. The same thing will happen here. Top TV is not going to start producing sports like Super Sport. This means trucks, announcers, technicians, studios, etc. are too costly and not their core business. When their subscriber base hits 500 000 they will have enough muscle to approach the courts and tackle DSTV on the grounds of "unfair advantage" and then they will get a ruling where DSTV has to sell Super Sport to TopTV at Cost to be hosted on TopTV's platform. The uptake of TopTV is huge. They will have the numbers very shortly. Louise Kelly from TopTV has said they will not be picking fights with DSTV at this moment. They have also said that they are not competing with DSTV. DSTV producers and distributes, TOPTV only distributes. The fact that we have competition in the pay tv arena in SA for the first time and that both players can make a living only bids well for all South Africans. The future is bright.
