TopTV Bugs and Peeves

Just a wild guess but I think they are repeating now for among other things so that new subscribers (face it that's about 100% of fx viewers) can watch all the series from the beginning, so that they can save a bit of costs till they start making a profit (at least 5 months per R249 subscriber I guestimate) and so on.
 
Repeats already?

I have to share this with all of you. I have been to the website of www.fxafrica.tv to check the schedules for FX for July and Horror! everything will be repeated from Season 1 episode1! That means that after Season 3 of Stargate ends on 13 July 2010, then it goes back to Season 1 episode 1. Same for Entourage, Kojak and everything else on Fox FX on TopTV. The worst thing is it is all repeated in the same timeslots!! Are we idiots? This is unforgivable. I cannot pay premium pay tv prices and get this kind of treatment. Unfortunately I am left with no other option but to cancel TopTV. I really was a big fan of the new player, but this has confirmed my worst fears that their partners, especially Fox will be bringing us repeats and nothing new. Very disappointed. Oh well back to DivX shows and looking at uncapped.

I thought I was missing out by not taking a higher option. I'm on R99/mth.

I have been looking at the EPG and seeing shows like Six Million Dollar Man, Dukes of Hazards and Moonlighting and thinking I'm missing out. Maybe I should take Knowledge & Entertainment next month for just one month.

You're right.
I posted a valid question last week that would have required an answer to something negative.
They haven't answered it or displayed it on their site.

Hardly an opportunity to "have your say".
I'm honestly seriously annoyed that they can be so blatantly misleading.
 
The answer is that they are a bunch of monkeys, totally out of their depth.
Look at the fiasco re launch,
Then re feedback
Then re paying their installers
Then re theit prog guide
then etc
etc
Now I have just received my FIRST statement and invoice, and it was wrong -which is what I expected.
Dont expect them to make it altho I wish they would.
Anyhow, I woill keep on supporting them for now, as they MUST give DSTV some opposition.
 
Given up for now I think. Doesn't make sense to keep it for the possible promise of sometime future channels. Also just got the first statement. Woo.
 
Whats with the EPG cannot select any other channel other than sabc and their top movies and top one

Happened to me last night as well.

Unplugged the decoder for a few minutes and all was fine again.
 
There really is nothing else to watch on TopTV now. 4400 is being repeated, ALREADY. The first episode was just after the world cup and they are already repeating it.

Yesterday, wifey, son and I sat down as a family for a change to eat dinner at 19h00 abandoning our regular viewing (the 7 o'clock news) to watch it. Five minutes into the episode, everything was looking oh so very familiar. Too familiar. I told my wife that we had watched this episode two weeks ago. She told me I'm nuts - I told her they are repeating already and she said lets see maybe thats how the episode goes, maybe its a flush back. Still not convinced or rather - still not believing our eyes we kept on watching hoping that it was really a flush back.

After 15 minutes we gave up and went back to our regular viewing (the news) only to catch that last few bits of it of any importance anyway.

I am totally livid. I have been a loyal customer and being treated like this is really insulting.

TopTV if you are not careful you are going to loose everyone from the first three months. I'm already on R99/mth. You are leaving me with no option but to cancel if this continues.

Totally agree. I really thought that they would take more care compiling their flagship channel TopONE. They have made a total mess of all their other brands, TopCrime (insulting), Tophistory and TopExplore which are alll content poor and repeated way too often. I think they have repeated the 3rd Reich episodes on TopHistory close to 20-30 times over the last 3 months. It shows a lack of expertise in compiling these channels and sourcing compelling new material. The amount of rubbish Dubbed German and Spanish shows over all their branded channels is really scrapping the bottom of barrel. (Lalola on TopOne and the junk on TopCrime)
They should pouch the experts from Mnet with $$$ to join them and compile their channels. It is very insulting and their blase and nonchalant attitude to my personal compaints put me right off. Please complain and write lots of e-mails to them. Bug them on all their contact e-mails, website, hellopeter and every public domain. They have to get the message. They cannot be that deaf.
 
anyone else having the jitter problem? when I try watching any channel it jitters besides the music video channels and ID but even the radio music channels jitter. it use to be fine no problem but passed week have had nothing but hell with it. anyone have any idea what the problem could be?
 
Yes i experienced the same problem on local channels and it was due to my dish being loose.Yesterday,there was a broadcasting issue around 6:30.Anyway i have cancelled TTV for this month and going to DSTV for a bit until these guys fix their nonsense.

I have got the exact same problem.

I wrote an email to their complaints department on Tuesday to let then know that Current TV cuts out every 15 minutes or so and they told me that the problem is with my system and that they checked the system on their side and there is absolutely nothing wrong. They then asked me to call the installer who did my installation to check the connection for me. However, I will not do this because I know for sure that it is not an installation problem. Besides, the installer will probably ask a call out fee especially if they find out that it is not their workmanship that is the problem.

Wednesday evening and last night, even this morning, I experienced what you are referring to as 'jitter problems'. Nice way of describing it because that is exactly what it is. One minute the channels are all on, the next minute you have to search to find a channel that is on.
