Can't believe so many people went out & bought decoders without having any idea of the actual content, the only thing that would even make me think about it is Kerrang, otherwise DSTV does just fine for me

what about MGM and Fox? surely they arent using VCRs to broadcast
 
http://www.toptv.co.za has a link for a tv guide but it isn't up yet so nobody knows the content unless they have already had an installer come and activate their decoder. Once that link is up we can get an idea what sort of content there is. I for one am first waiting to see what content is available before I go out and frantically buy a decoder. :wtf:
 
multichoice has been around for like 20 years. chillax people, ODM will learn what the consumers want. Can't expect new companies to instantly be way better than multichoice.

Yes you can....they will work on what viewers already knew and wanted from Multichoice. So they know what viewers want and it is cheap rates and A-grade tv no?
 
It will be a year before TopTV starts broadcasting decent qualitity programming. But you got to laugh at early adopters.....
 
But they've pumped R1 billion into the toptv. They've promised more channels and with channels such as Fox, Fox Retro, Investigation Discovery, Discovery Science, Discovery Travel & Living, Showtime. So I doubt the content is going to be a problem. They are overseas industries that show content such as American Idol, Boston Legal, as far as I know the Fox Retro channel will show things such as Baywatch, Thunderbirds. So no it won't be SABC re-runs.

as Quin said they should already know from the viewers of MC that they want new stuff.. not old stuff from SABC!
anyway Hows fox? whats playing on fox atm?
 
I'm holding thumbs for Top TV's movies ... because I don't want to watch Titanic, Annaconda etc! But they will improve with time I'm sure!
 
can anyone make screenshots available of the user interface .epg, guide ect..
 
Have you seen the schedules for all the Fox channels? It's on www.tvsa.co.za and even fx and entertainment have 90's shows. MGM only shows old movies. Look at the schedules for Showtime and silver (which have been running in europe for a while now) - 90% junk that even e.tv would be embarrassed to broadcast. I think it will be a while before they have decent stuff - bear in mind dstv has locked up first and second run rights to most good tv series and movies already.
 
do the adverts in the middle of the movies come with this package too?
