I know there is going to be a big fight between the two boys as to who gets to play it. :D

I may have to buy another copy! :(

got it! all i can say about it so far is that this is what i was expecting d3 to be like.

Personally i can't stand games that try to look realistic, Im playing a game, not real life, I honestly prefer the cartoony feel of torchlight to D3. Its colourful and captivating so far. Also im able to get caught in the game without having lag spikes to bring me back to the 'real world'. I just couldn't get into d3 with all the lag and wondering, is it my line, is it the game, is it my pc.

If i get into fights everything happens as you click, fighting a boss type creature, he is throwing rows of fireballs at you, no problem, dodge.. dodge.. dodge.. not once do you get hit because of lag. really enjoying it but only played an hour or so.

Playing outlander class at the moment and the different skill builds should make the game interesting, i dont unlock the same spells at the same level every time i play the class, so there should be a bit of replayability and trying different builds, but guess we will see closer to getting to max lvl. currently only lvl9 so got a long way to go.

So I played a little last night. Massive improvement over the first game and basically what Diablo 3 should have been (apart from the cutesy Nintendo-ish graphics). Only problem is I probably won't find anyone to play it with since everybody gave their money to Ko-dick instead. Oh well, still pretty good hacking slashing in single player.

No it has LAN and internet play, that's one of the major differences from the first game. All my friends just bought the pile of fail that is Diablo III.

Haha I also bought D3, no reason they can't play both:)

No reason no, I just know they won't. Most people won't spend money on 2 such similar games, especially after being disappointed with the first one.

I love hack and slash RPG's so I'll buy them all:twisted: But anyway will invite (or however it works) ingame, then we can jam together once I get the game

Can not wait to get home tonight and start playing.

Just some interesting reads "while you wait"

Torchlight 2 discussion over at Diablo3 Forums http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/6606352244

Quote - "D3, while I think its a tremendous accomplishment, there's a couple things they did that really hurt my personal ability to keep playing. The auction house, even the regular one, detracts from my own loot gathering. I hate seeing all the great stuff that's so easy to purchase and is so much better than what I can find on my own. The other big thing is the character customization. I really have no clue where this idea that what aarpgs need is fewer customization choices came from. I want to make a character that succeeds or fails based on my decisions. And after that I want to make another and then another that are totally different. I guess there a lot of people that don't want to carve their own way through these games, but for me it's critical."

Sad but true. You know it.

Question: I don't want to turn this into a !@#$-sling but I was really wondering what your thoughts on Diablo III are - both the positives and the negatives.

I'm happy to answer this. We know how hard it is to make games like this, so we have a lot of respect for Blizzard and the Diablo III team. Even if they made choices that are different than ours or those of some of their customers, you cannot make a game of that magnitude, polish, and quality without a dedicated and talented team. Of course their launch was not perfect (whose are?), but they seem to be working hard to address player issues, and I think those who are negative towards them should give them some time to make adjustments. We are happy to provide an alternative, though, too. The genre is big enough for a lot of approaches and styles. I personally am happy for Diablo III, Path of Exile, Borderlands 2, Grim Dawn, and the other ARPGs that are revitalizing the genre. And we are all at least a little bit in debt to Blizzard and the D3 team for bringing literally millions of new gamers into our genre.

Making games is physically and emotionally exhausting. It's distressing to see the level of criticism people engage in when they aren't 100% satisfied, and while they certainly have a right to their opinions (we all have 'em), at the same time we should have an authentic respect for those who spend years of their lives pouring their talents into these games. Runic Games respects and admires Blizzard for all they have done for our industry.

My only major concern with a game like TL2 is : No dedicated servers = CHEATERS galore! PvP will be full of players with the best gear in game in a matter of days imo. I'll stick to a sinlge play through and then back to D3 for patch 1.0.5:)

Well TL2 is mostly aimed at fun, like co-op and solo play vs Diablo that is mostly aimed at competing, even if its a solo player game.

ie: 2 different games all together.

Well they have PvP, so there should atleast be some degree of competition...But I hear you on the different games

Played quite a bit LAN last night, loving the responsiveness of LAN.

Anyone else see the "arrow to the knee" reference in the starting area?

Ugh, D3 comparisons in here as well, its sad

Anyhoo, got myself a "demo" version last night (official servers were down so couldnt get it any other way) and played 30min or so this morning. Seems pretty good, havent got any exciting skills yet (obviously) but looking forward to giving it a bash. I reckon if I make it to 3 hours and I'm still having fun I'll be parting with $20 :D Only thing I'm not sure of is whether I can get myself to start a character over when I spec the wrong skills/stats. I can already see I'm going to get the balance between magic/str completely wrong (started with outlander). Maybe I'll wait until someone has modded full respecs into the game. Or just play the embermage and dump everything into magic :p

edit: can anyone give more info on the end game? I recall something about game+ and map unlocks? Nevermind the inevitable endless dungeon that someone will prob mod in

I'm ****ing loving it so far. Planning an exciting evening of beer, monster bashing and steak.

The fact that it's running fine on my i7's onboard card is just fantastic.
