Torrents versus DC++ (Speedwise)

yes, please. divulge some secrets about setting up your azureus to get the best speeds. also, what local dc++ hubs are there OTHER than the ones already mentioned here? i dont think the best ones are listed...

and one more thing... local torrents? how the heck and where do i find them?

Yes I am also new to this, please guys inform us noobies of your secrets, I got some cool stuff to share...

DC++ is an application / protocol for downloading - similar to the way FTP works. If you download form the local servers (These are called hubs) then yes.

You cannot realy download from international though after the cap is reached. Even before it is reached it is difficult because of port shaping which slows downl all P2P traffic

Dc++ is mainly used for the capped ppl of South Africa, so yes if u use a local hub it works fine after being capped.

There are some local torrent sites but not wise to mention them on here considering all the telco watchers.

VUZE IS AWESOME!

Vuze (formerly Azureus) gets me about 1.2 Mb/sec. maybe cause this post was done 6 years ago! delete your old ass posts!:twisted:

DC++ sucks ass! :-P

Also dabbled in the dark art of DC++ not really what I call fun.. Waiting for ever to get anything to download allways waiting for other users to finish and get a download going all settings are working, but just takes forever for something to start downloading, but the moment I open DC++ the uploads starts running. Theiving bastards...

I have over 260GB shared, so can't be about their rules about how much they want you to share.....

Anyways NZB's for anything new I wanna download and anything a bit older I use torrents or some rapidshare/megaupload type sources... DC++ sorry not worth it on my 4MB line...

lmao this dude is a serious necromancer to revive a 2005 thread! I had this set as a watch it seems, imagine my surprise living in Canada now and receiving a update on this XD

Hey at least I can give you guys some interesting news, even here they have started to cap accounts now. It's much bigger though, the smallest cap is 60Gb but it's not just SA that does it. Ah and shaping too, torrents and that gets slowed down a bunch.
The onlt bad part of Dc++ is that there is typically less sources, which makes it slower in some cases. As for me, I often download a TV episode from there before I've even watched the previous one. Both can be fast/slow it totally depends on the sources you have and how many.
