Can a person find out the contact details of a cell phone number.
I have been scammed and would like to try and find the person.

Will most probably be a number registered with false details if registered at all....

You can forget about the SAPS. At most they will provide you with a case number for the insurance. You will need to employ the services of a private firm who specialize in tracing/tracking phones to assist you. Also to track the SIM is a waste, you need to track the actual device.

If you were scammed and your phone/device was stolen then in most cases its a lost cause. Your phone/device will in all probability be switched off and will be out of the country within the next couple of days. Most items stolen locally are sent out of the country and sold in other parts of Africa as they know the devices will be tracked.

My iPad was picked up in Ivory coast about three months after it was stolen.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience with a scammer but I'm afraid it's almost impossible to trace the cellphone number merely because it is not connected to a given switch. Although wireless communication service providers may pinpoint the owner's location based on the signal strength, it's not easy to point out the exact owner location. It takes a lot of times and effort.

But you do have an easy option, though. Raise your concern at Callercenter.com and post the phone number on the website. Be aware that the website gets an average of 100 000 visitors daily and with all those many people, it's highly possible that one of them may recognize the cellphone number. You would probably get the information your looking for as a response to your post.
