Hi all,
I've just ordered my new car today and was wondering if I should get a tracking device installed or not.
To give some context I previously had a VW polo that was stolen and retrieved twice in 6 months. The first time round the insurance company repaired my car and I had to make peace with the fact that it had been stolen, damaged and repaired and so I continued to drive it. When it was stolen the second time it was written off.
Quite a few people recommended to me to scrap the tracker altogether with the reasoning of "if they steal it let them keep it, you really want that car back anyway".
On the financial side of things the Tracker unit costs R200pm for 36 months and it reduces my premiums by approx R60 per month. So if I don't install a Tracker unit I'd be saving R130 per month.
Any advice and comments would be appreciated.
