How many times have you said: “there is no traffic officer around when needed”, or how often have you wished you could report a blatant traffic offence, an un-roadworthy vehicle or aggressive, irresponsible, negligent or reckless driving behaviour, or bad driver?

In order to provide for this need it was decided to establish a National Traffic Call Centre (NTCC) to give easy access to drivers, pedestrians and public road transport passengers on buses and minibus taxis to report bad drivers, unsafe vehicles and reckless and negligent driver behaviour; as well as fraud and corruption within the traffic situation.

Sound good? Join up!

Is anyone here a registered Traffic Obersver?
Has anyone received such a letter about a traffic transgression?

That looks pretty cool - how will it work though, because at the end of the day it's your word against theirs?

AFAIK, they send them a letter, with your version of events.

They track the compaints you submit to ensure you do not target people:

Once your detail is recorded and you are registered as a TO, you will be provided with a toll free number at which reports can be submitted telephonically. Recording your information to participate in this project is required in order to :

eliminate possible victimisation of innocent road users and drivers for devious and/or unknown reasons;
elimination of hoax and abusive calls;
as well as eliminating the need to record the detail of callers during subsequent reports etc, thus, as a time-saving measure.
details of TO’s are particularly required when calls may need to be followed-up on the provision of emergency services; i.e ambulances, fire brigades, etc in cases of indents and accidents.

No real action is taken, though if the same Car/driver is reported multiple times by different people, action might result. The warning/notification letters should be enough for most (generally) law abiding citizens to drive more considerately.

I see about 10 violations in the 20 minutes i spend driving to work every day. I would be so busy reporting all day!

So... You have to call them, while driving, to report an offense? And they're okay with this?

Got two plate this morning.

Silver Volvo S40, CA**** plus a Hyundai Bakkie, CF****

Only the more retarded offences get noted and reported.

Reporting process is: Log on to http://www.arrivealive.co.za/report.aspx and fill in the report.

Easy.

Who ever said anything about making a call while driving? You looking for an easy excuse for not making an effort? Best way to deal with kark drivers out there. Sure beats flipping the bird, hooting and hockey sticks.

I personally won't support anything linked to ArriveAlive. Their "Speed Kills" mantra is long past its sell-by date... I just don't like their self-righteous attitude.
