Transcend introduces portable HDD

The drive is said to support all commonly used operating systems, including Windows 2000 / XP / Vista, Mac, and Linux. It is available in 250GB and 320GB capacities.
It's good to hear that a specific piece of hardware supports Linux... most (almost all) hardware works on Linux, but they usually say "supports 2000,XP,Vi$ta, MacOS or whatever".
But this harddrive sounds pretty cool... prices?

I check Google but don't seem to find any prices. It is not even listed on Transcends online store yet.

Wow... a portable hard drive! Should the date on this article perhaps be set to something like 1998?

correct me if i am wrong but the only good thing here is it's size? you can get a laptop drive160gig plus it's bay for like R800 from mecer

Correct. Maxtor do that and the unit is pretty darn good. All I see on the main page of this site over the last few weeks is "Transcend". The size is however pretty good for a portable drive. Still, I don't trust many a larger drive that runs off USB power only.
