Oh you misunderstand me.. the roads you'll drive are in good condition, but they've decided to do major roadworks on the N2 and N3 all at the same time, so the traffic on those roads is just fsck off mental atm.

ah ok - that is fine if all it means is such delays. Part & parcel of travel in SA. /shrugs

Toll roads gonna smash though, and the N3 is a pretty stressful drive by itself these days. :(

That must be the sections in the Free State and from Van Reenens to Howick or so... from Howick down to Durban there aren't any stop go, and its 2 lanes all the way at least.

Unless you dive, there is no point. It's one of the best scuba spots in the world.

But no St Lucia, just hit Cape Vidal beach. It's awesome there. Isimangaliso Park is also worth a game drive. St lucia is also a nice little town with restaurants and things. Sodwana more the rustic getaway.
