Afternoon

We are planning a break to Thailand the end of the say for 2 weeks. I want to book the flights within the next month. So far Travelstart has been the cheapest with their flights with the airline websites asking almost double.

I have booked domestic flights with Travelstart without issue but of late I have seen some complaint regarding Travelstart about tickets being cancelled because the airline increased their prices, etc.

Can they be trusted to book international flights with?

I will not use travel agents again to book trips. Covid burnt my fingers big time.

Yeah, also in the same boat.

Looking to go on a trip, late July/early August. Thailand, Turkey, anywhere tbh.

Went to onestop tours yesterday. Flights are crazy expensive atm.

My wife has the first of two week holiday in Serbia for three days work and then the last week will be in Turkey, Travelstart has great flight deals just wanted to make sure its not a bad idea booking through them

Hey I booked with Standard Banks Ucount Travel Mall. Got our etickets immediately, flights reflected on the Qatar Airways app as soon as I made the payment.

The cost of the tickets increased by some margin since I booked.
 
What is the vibe like? I believe they basically opened completely now or at least from the 1st of July.

Busy looking at places to stay for myself, wife and two young kids. Any tips?
 
I ended up using Flight Centre instead of Travelstart for a trip to France earlier this month. It was slightly more expensive, but the reviews for Travelstart - especially for international flights - are horrendous. If you don't need to change anything it seems fine, but when you do (and considering countries are opening/closing borders all the time), it seems impossible to get hold of anyone, and so I didn't want to take a chance. Of course, I can't say Flight Centre would've been better had I needed to make a change since I didn't need to, but the reviews are significantly better and so I felt more confident with them.
 
I would've booked with Travelstart but the only issue is that you cannot get hold of them if issues arise. You deal with bots and that is a no for me. I tried to get hold of them just as a test and I failed.

The prices on the Ucount Travel Mall is similar or only slightly more expensive, insignificant really. However, the peace of mind is what I wanted. They wont flog you off to some third party provider you deal directly with the bank itself. I booked online with them and I even received a call a minute after payment to explain what is to follow. Before they even called I received the tickets via email. I believe there are issue in this regard with Travelstart, you pay but struggle to get your etickets. Lets not even talk about refunds, people are waiting years.

Just the flights. Use booking.com and google for accommodation and transport. But I traveled a fair amount so I am a bit confident, might be easier to use them for the whole trip if it’s your first time.

Definitely more quiet than I have ever seen it. Lots of places closed down. Covid hit them hard. If you see the Thai people when no one is around you can see the sadness (so being a bit mindful goes a long way). Although I will concede that it is low season.

But that said, they are gearing up for December and I think it will be off the chain then!!!!

Thailand is completely open all you need is a ThaiPass showing you are vaccinated.

We departing Cape Town on Christmas. Will have Chrismast Dinner 10km in the sky, what can top that lol.

They basically opened fully now, don't even need the Thai Pass from 1 July nor masks. I suspect numbers to pick up drastically in December.
 
So I am looking at Travelstart vs Turkish airlines

Now the prices seem the same BUT I cannot find this specific flight option on Turkish Airlines, any reason Travelstart would have it but they wouldnt?
