Truth behind Telkom ADSL performance problems

I have yet to see my "Free line speed upgrade" from Telkom. Still sitting on 1Mb.

Still the same old Telkom, hardly anything changed!

Nothing surprising there. I knew the slow speeds would be from these free upgrades

I have yet to see my "Free line speed upgrade" from Telkom. Still sitting on 1Mb.

Have you tried calling Telkom, and ask them to upgrade your line?

South Africa = "Aroooooahhhhh! We are ALMOST up to a basic adsl speed of 2meg! *Woots and high fives*

Rest of world = 0_o

The upgrades were supposed to provide more for less but in a true Telkom fashion it turned out to be less for more....

Are there any Telkom clients who gets more than 70% of their line speed on a consistent basis on any given day? Just go look at the Telkom uncapped users feedback and also see the results of the speedtests done here on mybb for Telkom lines. Everybody moaned and groaned about MWeb back when they started throttling services but Telkom is now ten times worse with almost nothing working.

Telkom will never change and because of that I refuse to support them in any way whatsoever. Innovation and delivery in this sector will start the day Telkom closes shop.

[sorry for the rant but Telkom has turned me into one of their worse critics, after being one of their loyal supporters for 20 odd years, due to their total incompetence and p**** poor service delivery and support]

I agree with your general opinion but feel that you need to separate the issues between Telkom ADSL and Telkom Internet. TI are being screwed in the same way that the other ISPs are being screwed!

Telkom must enjoy making less money.

The big majority of the "DSL Fastest-lolwhatever" are stuck on 4mbps or lower, so they are all downgrading to "DSL Faster".

Only in proud SA

Telkom did not respond to further questions by MyBroadband about IPC capacity problems and exchange congestion.

WILL THEY EVER RESPOND????

Where's all the so-called transparency that the new CEO promised?

If you're talking about downloading 24/7 at 70% of line speed then no, wouldn't even try as ADSL is a contended service.

Has my TI uncapped service suffered in January? Also no, only really had problems on the weekend of the 4th Jan otherwise service as normal.

I do around 300GB/mth, mainly torrents, no gaming or tv streaming. iPlayer radio and youtube have been OK.

Agree, never actually had problems with TI itself but then again, still part of the larger sinking ship. There will always be one or two divisions/business units that manage to excel even though the larger company is completely incompetent. Sadly though this talent will go down with the company unless they are grabbed by competition and or they leave under their own steam.

I thank my blessing every day that I'm not on a congested exchange.

Mine working fine at present - did 6g last night on my upgraded 4mg line! Has been issues past two weeks but hopefully fine now.

Remember the fault was located overseas and Seacom and other cables giving issues. i battled even with Afrihost the other night.
