who knows what we would have done if we hadnt been bullied soon as some people saw our beatiful terrain ? Our ancestors were probably happy with their simple life . They were living green .

"simple and primitive"' indeed logic, history and archeology dictates that they were violent too :)

hold on didn't your Mandela buddy get a degree at a white university?

Afrikaaneer history , why should we beleive you . We gave you a place to stay but soon as your relatives came with pounds you acted like Judahs .' We dont knows these people '

again, how do you know this???? WHAT FSCKING PROOF DO YOU HAVE ?????

There is something fitting about changing the names of places just as those places fall into dirty, chaotic, crime-ridden collapse: The mental association of the old 'European' names will forever be of clean, safe places where things worked, and the mental association of the new 'African' names will be of dirty, crime-ridden places where nothing works properly. Changing the name renders the old assocation more permanent in a way, so maybe changing the names has a good side, as it will prevent the old names from being associated with the new run-down disasters. 'Pretoria' was a city that worked, while 'Tshwane' is a city that doesn't. It is sad ... if I was black, I'd frankly be ashamed to put my 'African' names on these jokes.

You mean, Fort Hare?

Sorry bru. It was as black as they come.

afaik, wits/ UP ??

from wiki

Mandela completed his B.A. degree at the University of South Africa via correspondence, after which he began law studies at the University of Witwatersrand

he got expelled from Forst Hare for protesting ( no surprise there)!

Tshwane has one serious problem: Its surrounded with confusion.

If I write Pretoria on an envelop, it'll reach its destination. Not so sure that will happen if I write Tshwane on it.

One thing that would piss me off is if I now get a degree saying University of Tshwane. That would kill the credibility cause University of Pretoria does have a reputation worldwide while Tshwane does not..:(

Our ancestors were probably happy with their simple life . They were living green .

So by your logic, why don't you make yourself happier and go back to a simple life - drop the internet, cellphone, car, TV, modern medicine, electricity, dams, supermarkets, refiridgeration, benefits of modern agricultural methods etc.? Frankly we'd be happier too if you dropped your internet connection ;)

Go read . Even these Afrikaners will tell you when they first came here we used to live together , in some kind of harmony . But soon as some people landed on our shores because of political tensions , it was chaos . The afrikaners thought they had freinds and sold our long freindship down the drain because of all the good stuff of the west and promises of pounds .

erm where do you read this? bring proof please.. or be quiet! (clearly you don't have proof)....

where should we go and read?

isede, I see you're still the same joke you've always been. I suspect you might have given ol' Malema a run for his splinters in that woodworking class.

Thanks for the giggles, though.

We as in you and your mother ?

See, now you're being an ass. Vantage, place nice and quit the personal insults. It's against T&Cs and if you can't play nicely you're going to be booted from the kiDDiEs pool.

@Vantage: it is because of you and similar thinking South Africans that this country will fail. Grow some balls, get off your arse and work like we do to make a success of this beautiful land.

Vantage... are you there... lets have a little chat for 30 minutes. If you are there let me know. I promise to stick around till 18h30 and do a post by post debate on name changes... You there?

why dont want to honour the people who lived in the Tshwane area ?
they are also the people wwho were paid little for the manual labour .

Is this seriously the best argument that you can come up with?

What does having done labor have to do with anything? Do you get to name your employers businesses because you worked for them?
