Some people will never change and never adapt, and sit there in front of their PC's as they read this thinking:"That's me, and proud of it".

Well let me at the gravy bowl and I'll adapt to it quite quickly I reckon.

Parts Missing?

Pretoria - A clean-up crew was due on Friday afternoon to clean the statue of Chief Tshwane, which vandals have painted in the colours of the old South African flag.

The statue that was unveiled in front of the Pretoria City Hall last week was found on Friday morning with orange, white and blue and the letters "BB" painted on it.

A model of a blue-headed rock lizard was also attached to the base.

"This is vandalism, and it is very sad," Tshwane Metro Police spokesperson Alta Fourie said.

The vandals probably painted the statue during Thursday night when there were no witnesses around.

She said although city council park rangers would be deployed in the area it would be difficult to watch the statue continuously.

"We can unfortunately not post police officers at every statue in the city," she said.

In the meantime the Democratic Alliance (DA) has condemned the vandalism saying residents of the city should have respect for one another's cultures.

"The Tshwane statue did not replace any other statues in the city.

"One should be thankful that the city provides enough space for all the cultural groups living in it," DA leader in the city, Fred Nel, said.
I hope they pick up his "cloth)and clean nicely...i wonder when a statue like that gets made or EVERYTHING GETS MADE:confused:

Ya right. :D But very sad.

Well guys, this is just social action at work - it happens all over the world, there's nothing new here.

It shows a typical social disagreement and is more disturbing than you could imagine really.

The whole idea of this statue is rather scary, as it's actually "inventing" history - it's fake.

The current SA government is taking some leaves out of the Communist book - it's borders on rewriting history to inspire the majority.

The graffitti on the statue sends out a very clear message - a minority group is not happy with the state of affairs in Pretoria, which in a way, indicates that the ANC isn't doing what they promised!

They are starting to do EXACTLY what the NP did during Apartheid - glorifying a racial group.

The right thing to do, would've been a statue which represents ALL of the cultures and races of South Africa, not just one.

The writing is on the wall folks - forces at work within Government are starting to repeat the mistakes of the past - as we know, Johannesburg International is probabably going to be renamed - Oliver Tambo.

So, we go from Jan Smuts, to Johannesburg International, to Oliver Tambo.

I suppose the real difference is that instead of a minority dominating a majority, it will be a majoritiy dominating.

I've no idea really - I'm losing track of the happenings in SA - one thing I do know, to ostrasise the minority groups in SA is a BIG mistake - this is not a Zimbabwe situation, the minority (White, Coloured, Indian) is not an insignificant force.

The ANC have lied when it comes down to it, once again ...

Leon argued that one could build other things to commemorate Tambo. "Build a hospital, and name it after OR Tambo. Build a school, and name it after Tambo. Build a road or a housing development or even a World Cup stadium, and name it after Tambo."

"That way, at least, the money spent on honouring Tambo would also be going towards developing the country and improving the lives of its citizens." -- I-Net Bridge

Again something thats been mentioned a lot of times on this forum

I will not help

Personally I think the anc`s attitude is “if a idea comes from a white man discard it immediately they don’t want to create the impression that they take orders from whites. So no matter what the idea or advice may be if you are white “f#ck you, you racist do you think we are stupid” is the attitude. So with me its like this, even if I see something is wrong I will not say a word or act.....less I be called a uppity whitie
