TV cards again... For DSTV

Complete noob

Hi Guys and Gals (or anything in between)

Being a complete noob, I read through both threads and I just want to confirm and ask some advice:

Let me explain the scenario, then you might be able to give better advice:
I am planning on cancelling my DSTV. There are still some shows on my PVR that I want to keep. I need a card to connect the PVR to my PC (RCA cable connection).
Then after cancelling my DSTV, I want to wach movies etc on my TV from my PC (any cable). The all new PCtv, coming to a TV near me soon!

According to the threads, I gather that I'll need 2 seperate cards. Is there a card on the market that can do both?

What do I ask for if I go buy it or what do I google?:erm:

That is exactly why I need some sort of thingy to record the shows on my PC from the PVR. After that, I want to be able to watch it on my TV without the PVR. (From the PC)

Then you should just get yourself a capture card....

And what type of TV do you have? LCD, Plasma?... your video card may be able to output to that screen alraedy without anything extra.

Now Im not into editing, I just wanna watch (hence the USB option). It comes with EDITING software, but not WATCHING software. By this I mean, I open the program and its got a small window with the pic and millions of settings and editing things (which I dont care about lol ). I need a program which will give me simple window with a full screen pic and some sound

I managed to get some kind of pic on VLC but OMG there are millions of settings and each time you have to go through the WHOLE PROCESS

The pic is also kinda dodgy tbh. And I dont mean stretched or anything, standard size its just all noisy and gross

so where the pros at this? please help me!

windows 7 has a media centre which should do this automatically once you scan and detect the card.

Tried that... I ran Media Centre and it says I have no capture device connected... I dont see anywhere to setup anything, it just detects auto and finds nothing... nadda... zip!

Use GBPVR. Should work well and easy to setup. http://www.gbpvr.com/

Just buy a TV card and plug in the antennae feed then install software, I hope!

jeez, i have the usb 2.0 vivid series (triton tech chip) and its a load of BS. I think the usb packed up as its lost its signal completely , even after reinstalls and scanning still cant find the dstv channel its on in the mainroom, which is channel 46 on honestech software.

never buying that again. im going through all this thnx postmanpot

any descent quality tv adapters for pc that i can get from takealot ?

Hi there,

After recently upgrading from a TD850IMC to a TDS865IMC I've had enough of the crap multichoice push on customers. I would like to setup DSTV without their decoder anywhere in the picture (something I believe they're completely shafting the south african consumers with). What baffles me is why a product such as this: http://www.anysee.com/eng/product/anyseeE30PS2Plus.php or a smart card reader cannot be used for encryption/decryption. Preferably it needs to be a low profile card as I'd prefer a slim PC that would be more aesthetically pleasing in my TV cabinet. It also needs to be able to record more than one channel at a time (Like their old decoders) I can then drop kick my DVD player along with my decoder while I'm at it.
