Hey guys I just logged onto my Twitter account only to discover I am suddenly following a thousand Arabic and weird named entities. This number is growing everyday. As someone who is relatively new to Twitter and who is only used to having one person to follow I'd like to know what is happening and how can I stop it and prevent it from happening again. Thanks.

You cannot stop people from following you but you can just ensure your privacy settings are set properly.

I am the one who is following THEM. As a result whenever I open twitter the homepage is flooded with ramblings from them. The only things I intentionally follow is Bongi Gwala(safm dj) and SABC cricket.

Sounds like your account might be hacked then. Change your password and then unfollow all those accounts.

Twitter down for anyone else?

Yes, from my desktop anyway. It was OK half an hour ago on my mobile, but that's on charge right now.
Down detector says yes, also.

Seems twitter API is broken. 3rd party apps not working currently. Wonder if Musk has killed 3 party app support?
