A Kleinmond man has shot dead two men who killed his wife and injured him during an attack at their home on Tuesday.

Marne Badenhorst was shot dead while her husband was out taking the couple's two young children to creche. He was only out of the house for ten minutes, but it was enough time for the killers to strike.

Both Badenhorst and her husband, who may not be named while police are investigating the incident, were former police officers and it's believed that only the man's special forces training saved him from being shot dead as well when he came home and discovered the attackers still in the house.

Nothing seems off to me, they killed his wife he got revenge. sad story but at least the robbers are dead.

I think its the way its reported that makes it sound fishy. Not enough details in the story.

yeah, reading you get the impression the reporter finds it fishy too.
of course the police (if they any good) will start by looking closer to home.

Only sounds fishy cause of the lack of details like motive etc. The way the story was worded makes it sound more like an assasination than a botched robbery, perhaps she went for a weapon?

This happends every day though, not much of a story imo

Now we have two conflicting reports. One where the woman was shot while the husband was away and one where she got shot as a result of a gun battle between her husband and the crooks. :(

fishy, fishy,
how does the wife get shot while the husband is
away in the bedroom taking the "killers" to the money they were demanding?

I actually find that story more plausible than the first one. One would assume the attackers would want all the hostages together and thus force her to come with to the bedroom. IMO, the 2nd story is probably more accurate, and shows there was no foul play on the part of the husband.

Anyone have the full Cape Argus story?

Either way those two appear to have had no business in the house and were fully armed. Benefit of doubt to the husband and it would seem good riddance from the initial aspects of the story.

The man will be suffering with his wife dead but I hope thats the end of it and he wasn't involved.

Actually the police are going to start by treating the husband as a suspect.
That's just how these things work. In 80%+ of murders, the victim/suspect know each other.

In Kleinmond...

Is anyone here from the Cape? 10 years ago we never had any murders or crime of any serious nature in places like Kleinmond, Hermanus, or anu other small coastal towns. Now its totally out of control.

Read the full story in today's Cape Argus.

Maybe it's one of those teazer stories - something new to raise circulation?
