Yeah, I agree but am hoping that its exactly what it says it was and not a husband\wife killing.

Is anyone here from the Cape? 10 years ago we never had any murders or crime of any serious nature in places like Kleinmond, Hermanus, or anu other small coastal towns. Now its totally out of control.

the problem is hawson in that area is run by poachers/gangsters and it is spilling out to the surrounding area's...

Im not so sure bru. I take crayfish out at Hawston, people there are very proud of their town and basically just wanna be left alone to poach. I honestly dont think someone from Hawston would be responsible for a muder in Kleinmond. kleinmonds crime has skyrocketed due to poor people being paid to settle here in the Cape for political reasons.
 
Husband shoots robbers who killed his wife

MINUTES after Kleinmond mother Marne Badenhorst kissed her children goodbye and sent them off to creche, she lay dying after being shot by two gunmen.

Her husband took just 10 minutes to drop their six-year-old son and five year-old daughter at daycare, before returning home.

When he got there, he had surprised two men in his house, police said.

He was shot in the leg, just above the knee, and led into his bedroom, where the men demanded cash.

But he managed to draw his own gun and killed his two captors. A relative said he had had special forces training with the police and years of experience had kicked in.

Sources said it appeared that the two men had not expected him to return home.

His wife was, by now, barely alive.

Police said the husband had raised the alarm and a private ambulance company sent a vehicle to their home.

Marne Badenhorst was rushed to Hermanus Medi-Clinic, but did not survive.

Her husband was treated for his leg wound, while a friend of the family went to the creche to pick up the children.

Sources said that because of the storm that lashed the area yesterday morning, the shots had not been heard.

Neighbours had been shocked when more than a dozen police vehicles and ambulances had arrived in Delport Street and news of the early-morning bloodbath spread.

They also told of seeing a stranger near the house at the time, but had assumed him to be a labourer working on another neighbour's house, where renovations had been taking place for weeks.

Yesterday afternoon, Delport Street remained cordoned off as investigators combed the house.

Neighbours, concerned and frightened, speculated that "they must have been watching her".

A family member, who asked not to be named, said of Badenhorst's husband this morning: "He's holding up as good as one can expect. It's absolutely devastating. But, with a lot of help, we'll get through it."

The couple were known as happy, friendly people who loved to walk with their children down to the coastline.

They were former police officers and had resigned from the force about four years ago.

He set up office in Kleinmond as a broker for Old Mutual products, while she worked from home as a bond originator, not far from Kleinmond's Harbour Road tourism centre.

Police have opened a murder docket.

Nothing funny with the story thb. Seems he just surprised the pieces of **** and rightly offed them. Hope their last few seconds on this planet were horrible:mad:
 
There was a storm outside. It is well known that crooks strike when it rains. The best solution I have come up with for this dilemma are http://scratchpad.wikia.com/wiki/InfraRedLeds stacked around the home connected to CAN bus or RS485 network. CAN seems to be preferred becaus it takes care of the physical and coms layer. RS485 is just physical layer.
Especially if it rains nobody was supposed to be walking around the house. The criminals infiltrate an neighbourhood and then jump over the walls. Wall perimeter breaching detection should be implemented.

Those IR beam stuff alarm companies sell for R500 is a scam. A bog standard industrial solution (what do you think factories use? ) has been available in an IC package the TSOP1838 Used in IR barrier circuits TSOP1838 , TSOP1738 (38khz version) http://www.digchip.com/datasheets/quote.php?action=search&pn=TSOP1838. These electronics magazine articles show how to configure them

LIke a marine in a warzone you would have to know what moves around you at all times and still be able to carry on with your life. IR led barrier beams (hundreds of them) stacked around the house and wall, roofs , gutters will do the trick.

The problem of dealing with insurgents jumping over walls can easily be dealt with, it is just a matter of getting the circuits and code on the Internet and explaining the technology to people, making home automation a generic concept.

Yeah.. maybe you a local.. but about 4 years ago I was diving at hawston.. and when i came out the water i was held at gunpoint till i handed over my catch and told not to come back..
