Tyres from Autostyle

First you say it isn't a rating, now you say it is a rating and that P = 150 km/h. Make up your mind.

The link I originally gave to you, when you denied it was a rating, showed that it is a speed rating for 150 km/h.

You are not making sense.

WOW!

Didn't think they would be fake, but there had to have been a catch. The P rating was it.

Where did you get the P rating, changing your decision?

Heh. Don't think Pirelli would produce a tyre rated for anything less than 200km/h. Not how they roll. Geddit...? 'Roll'.

I'll show myself out.

With a Alfa you will just be fine with a tyre rated at 150km/hr cause if you drive any faster your car will fall to pieces.
Now I know why you have never come for that beer I also wouldn't want to drive that thing so far.

Just saying :D

Agree that a P rating, especially on Pirellis, is a bit absurd. I'm open to it being a website error but Minty's quoted +-R2800 for the same tyre which I can only assume is a properly rated one.

Fulcrum is now decidedly absent, despite his denial of P being a rating and then trying to argue a line of reasoning that I quite haven't followed, considering I alleged P was a rating at 150km/h all along.

Haha! Touche!

Product name:

225/40/18" Pirelli Tyres

Part number:

Part No. 225/40/18P (Autostyler website)

Otherwise an optional letter (or letters) indicating the intended use or vehicle class for the tire:

P: Passenger Car
LT: Light Truck
ST: Special Trailer
T: Temporary (restricted usage for "Space-Saver" spare wheels)

Exampe: P indicates that the tire is engineered to TRA standards and absence of a letter indicates that the tire is engineered to ETRTO standards. In practice, the standards of the two organizations have evolved together and are fairly interchangeable, but not fully since the Load Index will be different for the same size tire.

Using a P195/60R15 87S tire size as our example, the 87S at the end of the size represents the tire's service description. A service description identifies the tire's load index and speed rating. Service Descriptions are required on all speed rated (except for Z-speed rated) tires manufactured since 1991.

The first two digits (87S) represent the tire's load index and are followed by a single letter (87S) identifying the tire's speed rating.

This is really wow, other people also read this thread.

BTW, the only reason that Autostyler will possibly advise an P rated tyre is due to your vehicle being incapable to exceed 150 Km/h (94 Mph), this according to the national regulations set by the European Tyre and Rim Technical Organisation (ETRTO) and the Tire and Rim Association (TRA).

just to clarify somethings.

Our tyres are not fake, cheap, knockoffs as one claimed on this thread. We are authorised resellers for Pirellie, Yokohama, Dunlop etc etc. Yes we sell it cheaper then most, quantity counts.

The last letter on our part number on the site is our own reference, rather use the actual title for your research (eg P Zero, Nero, etc etc)

We buy from multiple suppliers so unable to use supplier part number, instead have our own
eg. 195/50/15D (this will be dunlop) 195/50/15A (accelera) etc etc.

Any chance that P at the end of the part number is merely meant for internal use to tell them it is a pirelli...

Yes P can stand for passenger vehicle (it is optional) and I would understand this if it appeared in the format "P225/40/R18" on the website, but it is instead listed as "225/40/18P". It comes after the tyre size, in the place where the speed rating appears. Look at the format of your own example:

Using a P195/60R15 87S tire size as our example, the 87S at the end of the size ...

P appears first. Precisely because it is optional to include the tyre's intended use (and on a 225/40/18 I would imagine not many Light Trucks roll on them, so the classification "P" beforehand is not necessary). When they put the P after the tyre dimension, this can only denote the speed rating (which is obligatory) according to recognised custom.

By the way, this is really wow, other people also read this thread.

Autostyle tyres are cheap crap. Dont play with your life. You have a few sq cm between you and the road. Fit decent tires.

really? prove this. we dont make up our own tyres. We buy from guys like Dunlop, Pirelli, etc. Yes we stock non-name brands and we stock brand names. Some customers are tight on funds and settle for a non brand. Even the cheapest, made-in-china no name brand tyres pass worldwide certifications & tests. Issues do arise with tyres, sometimes tyre fault, sometimes driver fault. In all cases issues are addressed and suppliers come to the party with solutions.

Thanks naeem. I never claimed them to be fake or knockoff. I merely questioned why they were so cheap. Because you listed the tyre with a P rating (see my line of reasoning above), I chose not to buy them. Your internal reference messes up with the tyre ratings where P after the tyre dimensions denotes the speed rating.

You may want to rethink your internal part references.

By the way, what is the speed rating for those Pirellis (out of edification)?

Well I do eat my foot for that.

Last time I saw one of your shops it was only chinese tires there and so often I see these with sidewall defects.

However if you supply the same brands Dunlop Michelin Kuhmo etc then I agree completely.

You have good tires and budget tires.

Unfortunately the combos we see are usually paired woth these budget tires.

Not knocking you guys down. I get a lot of products from you that work very well.

@izzzy - no worries. Just clearing up things, aimed more at @Boxerulz statements.

Will definitely mention to the guys about the part numbers. agree, it does get confusing, especially when we bulk buy like 500 at a time, so one week we could have pzero's on promo, and hte next week another. That said, pirelli is not as fast a seller as other makes like Yokohama, Accelera, etc

Speedratings, pop me an email [email protected] (this comes to me) and i'll have one of the guys call you and clarify details.
