Does anyone know why my mouse button dies? It happens on my ubuntu machine at least once a day. As soon as I restart it magically works again.

I have tried a different mouse just to be sure. I am using a Hp Nx9010 laptop. Havn't had hardware issues so far.

I have the exact same problem, or at least very similar. In ubuntu 10.10, the mouse works great until I press any of the function keys (F1 through to F12) as well as some others.

As soon as I press one of those keys, I can no longer left click either. Right click works fine, mouse moves around.. but no left click.

How I fix it: Unplug wireless dongle, and plug it back in :/ Lame fix, and frustrating.. but It does the job. I left windows bluescreens to run into mouse not working 100% of the time :/

Sorry if I didnt help on this one, just thought I'd say you are not alone. :erm:

You guys using a wireless mouse, or an optical mouse?

I'm using a Microsoft optical notebook mouse & have not had issues so far.....but don't really use function keys.

I am using a Microsoft Wireless Comfort Desktop 5000 kit, i.e. wireless keyboard and mouse, which shares the same wireless USB connection.

I think this is a bug on ubuntu's part, since the hardware works great in windows.

I have exactly the same problem on my Nx9020 laptop running Ubuntu 10.04. I'm using a Microsoft mouse. Ruled out hardware error by swapping mice. Also every thing worked fine on the Windows side.

If anyone has a fix for this I would love to hear.

On my desktop computer running Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit, if I press any of the special keys on the keyboard (e.g. shortcut key for calculator, web browser, email) then the left mouse button stops working. Then I have to unplug and plug in both the keyboard and mouse to get it to work again. Function keys work fine, no problem there.
