The latest Long Term Support Edition of Ubuntu desktop, version 14.04 has been released. Downloads available here:

They really cut it close it seems to reach their target date.

Was going to post our mirror here, but looks like its getting enough hits as is, to do close to the max of it's 100Mbps upload speed.

I thought that it would be out early this morning but it was finally real eased late in the afternoon. That link I posted was quick enough to give me more or less max line speed on the download. The 64bit ISO is 1GB and it was done in 17 minutes.
 
Since this upgrade machine sounds like a Boeing 747. CPU on a lenovo is on overdrive!

Give unity a bash again. It's actually become quite a solid desktop.
 
Looks good, why do I feel so exited? Seems they getting back on track. ;)
 
It seems like they have been listening to people. Unity is starting to become one of my favorite DEs due to the stability and lack of bugs (so far).
 
Never been a fan of Ubuntu but this release is turning out to be pretty good. Unity is definitely more usable than annoying.

Been running it since release day and I have no reason to get rid of it.

14.04 is Trusty Tahr. Next letter in the alphabet is U so 14.10 is Utopic Unicorn. This means that 15.04 could be Voluptuous Vulture but most probably not.

Going through a quick guest list I wouldn't be surprised if the next release will be UBER UHURU :)
 
What happens when they reach Zesty Zebra? What comes next?
