Ubuntu for dummies:

Are you stalking me, DJK?
Compiz rules..... I just don't use it anymore...

Stalking you? Sheezuz - you the one with my anal fetish and posting AFTER me - a fox smells its own hole - or finger in your case...:p

:D Mint is the greatest. :)

swift, details here. It was originally based on ubuntu but they're moving further away from those roots with each release. Mint has a lot of custom tools (MintInstall, MintWireless etc) that make installing and maintaining really easy. Also comes with all codecs from the get-go. Gnome, KDE and (i think) flux versions.

I'm tempted... what are the repos like, can you download stuff on local?

Edit:
It says it compatible with ubuntu repos, anybody had probs?

As of yet none. As they say Whatever works for normal ubuntu will work exactly the same for Mint. (same tweaks, apps, settings - alles)

Oooh, this Mint is nice. And I dont need to uninstall Kubuntu to install this do I? I can run a new session with Mint right?

Um, no. It's an OS not just a window manager. You'll need to replace your kubuntu (or setup another partition and dual boot etc).

Mint uses gnome as a window manger by default - though there are KDE and XFCE releases. See them all here.

Don't worry though DJK, it's debian/ubuntu based and also uses apt or synaptic. So you'll still be able to use all those sudo apt-get clue type commands you've learnt and are so freely bandying around in the TK. :D
