I use them for my updates... and have never had an issue. It's always gone down from my local account...
 
I downloaded both Ubuntu AND Kubuntu 9.04 from ubuntu.mirror.ac.za and both came in on a local only account. I used KFTPGrabber tho, but that should not make a difference.

EDIT : Spoke too soon...local repositories seem to be down this morning ! (Sun 26 April) Will check again later.

You sure? I ran some updates on that mirror yesterday...
