Hi guys.

Can anyone who attends UCT please pm the password to the DC++ server hub? I have a friend who keeps asking me this question and it's starting to bug me. (like how the hell should I know??! lol). Ai, maybe I look like a geek or something lol.
I clearly don't know the password and I don't spend as much time in the labs. I would to download some nice movies though.
Please help me out.

Thanks in advance.
(P.S Won't using the hub get you into trouble?)

As far as I remember you have to connect using a UCT IP address :/

Carefull Dean, a) you won't stop receiving PMs, and b) ICTS might prowel for the IP and shut it down ;)

What and what?

I haven't received a PM, nor has ICTS shut it down for the past 10 years or so...

I'm sure the lovely ResNet users wouldn't want their hostname all over the googles.

Actually they do shut it down, they're having to evade ICTS and move the hub everytime :S.

shame. Glad my UCT days are behind me so I no longer have to worry about issues as pressing as this one :-P

I see another hub has been axed! Could someone PM the new one to me please:) Super Thanks

Apexdc++ is alive and well again on the UCT Campus wireless network...the hubs name is breakfastclub.redirectme.net or 196.24.152.97. Hurry and download as many movies and music for as long as it lasts. Over 3 Terra bytes of stuff available without any problem!!!24 April 2013

Pointing this out to the admins... nice...

Well UCT Backbone makes everyone sign an agreement that no copy written material is permitted to be distributed over their infrastructure. But as the meme would suggest i could just be trollin :P

Weell what are all the students doing madly photocopying prescribed books and other copyright material ?

I assume there is a waiver for "academic" use

However
I do not think that the waiver applies to movies TV shows serials etc etc ( unless of course you are a student attached to the "School of Media" / Fine-Arts

:D

I am sure you are right :D

But I have a ton of study material myself and sorry to say it doesn't even make up a 1/2Tb. The waiver would not cover a large amount of material movies/tv shows/games.

With the US laws going super nova over sharing copy written content... it might be time to employ VPN's for downloading stuff ;)

Edit*** PS i am just bored as i am updating my metasploit framework and its taking forever.... trolling a bunch of forums fills the gap
