Unlucky Angelo...your team didn't make it...Guys Ubercal is the know all of football so don't argue. Let's just discuss the Champs league not how intelligent we are in the world of football. ;)

Milan going to be a difficult team to beat. Hoping United can go through though. Will then be a classic Champs League final.
 
got to say the special one is not so special

firstly taking off joe cole a good penalty taker
then sending robben in to take one who has played very little football
then sending in the other black dude who has played no football

should have send out his strongest penalty takers first

In the 54th minute Chelsea won a free-kick on the right wing but Lampard's punt into the area sailed over everyone.

In the 56th minute Chelsea had Cech to thank when he pulled off a superb save at the far post.

Pennant turned Claude Makelele inside out before crossing to the far post where England striker Peter Crouch's downward header was saved by Cech's legs.

Moments later Kuyt hit the crossbar with a powerful header as Liverpool increased the pressure on the Londoners.

In the 61st minute Agger was booked for one foul too many on Drogba, who was left writhing on the deck after a challenge from behind.

A goal for Chelsea would give Liverpool a mountain to climb but the champions were more content to knock the ball around than to try and hurt Liverpool.

But a poor pass from Makelele left Essien with no choice but to foul Crouch and give Liverpool another opportunity in the 69th minute.

Once again Crouch was the target and his header was cleared for a corner by the grateful Essien.

When Pennant swung the ball into the middle it was Drogba who found the height to clear the danger.

In the 75th minute Chelsea should have equalised when Ashley Cole got clear on the left flank and crossed into the six-yard box where Drogba somehow managed to send the ball over the crossbar.

With the aggregate scores locked at 1-1, the match went into extra-time.

In the 97th minute Mourinho made his first change of the night when he replaced Joe Cole with Dutch winger Arjen Robben.

Three minutes later Kuyt was adjudged offside when he converted the rebound after Cech had failed to hold a ferocious drive from Xabi Alonso.

Five minutes before the end of extra-time Drogba just failed to connect with a low cross from Shaun Wright-Phillips but Cech rescued Chelsea when he punched away Kuyt's shot moments later.

how does mourinho say chelsea where better

both team did not play all that well
tnite is champs league final i think, cant see how a liverpool team will beat either of tnite's teams
 
sweet and just result - not sure either team was better than the other (other than during the shootout) but separated by a very sweetly taken set piece goal
 
i think penalties where a good outcome

my father tuned me liverfool cannot loose if it goes to penalties :)

game sucks penalties made up for 120 minutes of bore
 
Jose Mourinho vowed that Chelsea's strength of character would see them return next season for another crack at reaching the Champions League final.

The Chelsea manager brushed aside questions about his future after seeing his side lose Tuesday night's semi-final 4-1 against Liverpool in a penalty shoot-out after Daniel Agger had cancelled out Joe Cole's first-leg goal.

Liverpool now go through to the May 23 final in Athens against Manchester United or AC Milan, while Mourinho and his squad must regroup after a third Champions League semi-final defeat in four seasons.

Mourinho though insisted the Blues would return unbowed.

He said: "What more speculation, what now? I thought we had cleared this all up.

"We will keep going. There is always a next chance, next season is another season. I feel we deserve to be in a final, three times now in four seasons we get this close, we deserve a final.

"We are strong characters, but we have had such a difficult season ahead of this situation because of our injuries, and that is because of our character.

"Next season the group will be little different to the group we have now. Our intention is to keep a big percentage of these players, maybe two or three changes which is normal in a club like us."

As for the end of another dream, and with the league title almost conceded, Mourinho insisted that four trophies was always a long shot.

He said: "The quadruple is a difficult thing to go for. At the beginning of the season we do not think of that, we think of each game and trying to win each time."

Mourinho accepted the defeat at Anfield was a severe body blow, saying: "As far as my management career goes, that was the most heartbreaking night.

"To lose a Champions League semi-final on penalties is hard to take.

"I do not think we were bothered by the atmosphere, it was a great atmosphere with their fans supporting their team.

"It did not affect us, we were the team in blue always trying to win. They had a short period in the first half in control, but after that I felt it was always Chelsea in control and trying to win the game.

"For 90 minutes, extra-time, we always tried to win. Free-kicks, we had every strong player into the box, we showed we wanted to win the game so we had no problems with the atmosphere.

"I felt Chelsea could always win. Penalties, penalties, some people say they are luck, some that their 'keeper has an appetite for them or that some players do not take them well.

"They scored four, us one. That was the story of the game and they were stronger in that part of the game and are in the final."

He added: "But in five, 10, 20 years, nobody will remember that Chelsea were the better team in the first leg of the semi-final and I feel deserved to win the second.

"Nobody will remember that Chelsea were the best team in extra-time. That is the history of football."

As is so often the case :o

I noticed on a few corners Chelskie had 3 players back :eek: with no Liverpool players anywhere near because Rafa brings his whole team back to defend set pieces.

Indeed. Sure it was a poor game and neither side were really spectacualr. But Chelsea were shocking considering they were chasing a quadruple apparently.

Considering the tempo it was a really good game :cool:

Look at Agger's goal, Kyuts header against the post, the Offside goal, saves from both goalkeepers and the quality of the penalties from Liverpool.

But most of all some of the tracking and tackling from Liverpool. Some of the last ditch attempts from the likes of Carra, Stevie G and Mascherano was brilliant stuff.
 
I actually stayed up from 3am till 6 am watching that crap this morning. Can't believe i did that. Now I need to do it tomorrow morning which I can be sure it'll be a much more entertaining game.

Dude, come now. Ask any netral and they will tell you just how boring it was. And that was very.
 
Lol I only caught the last 5 min of extra time and penalties!!:p
