UIF Nightmare. Can't wait any longer

Does anyone know if the UIF system is really down?
My details vanished from the website which stops me from applying for anything.
They don't answer emails and their call support is a joke. They told me it was down for weeks and they have no idea when it will be online again, if it all.

Money is tight, and I can't wait for another month or 2 just to get through the application stage. With my luck I'll most likely be 'another statistic' waiting for a year just to get payments or have to stand hours each day at the local branch and still not get anywhere.

This is such a nightmare, I've never used these services and never thought I'd have to. For years I've been paying UIF, paying ~40% of my salary just on taxes, and for what? Just to get a middlefinger when I need help?
 
Have you tried going to their offices? Don't waste your time with emails and calls; you won't get anything from that. There used to be a labour office in Marlboro that was effective when dealing with UIF issues but I'm not sure if it's still there.

No, not yet. I was hoping to avoid that since it's the equivalent of sitting for hours at SARS and being treated like you're the scum of the earth. From the reviews I've read, it looks like I'll have to wait months just to get it processed there.

Then I think you can wait a bit longer!!!
 
Don't apply online. My wife did and nothing happened for months. She went into the branch and they said she will never come right with her online application. The branch sorted her out and 2 weeks later got a payment. It did take half a day of sitting in the branch which is a pain but things got sorted out quickly when she finally got to the counter
 
bribe not paid in time?

I do find it pathetic, people pay UIF for years and years and years, get treated like a joke,
but then those same complaining people will vote ANC.

so I dont know whats more pathetic anymore
