Good day

My wife has been out of work due to her company being liquidated since February this year. We advised Telkom in April to stop billing and put us on pay as you go as we are on a month to month contract, and we were unable to pay. The line was subsequently suspended. They requested that the outstanding amount be settled first and then they would stop billing. we continue to get billed the normal monthly contractual fee even though we not receiving service. According to the consultants at telkom, this bill will continue to be billed monthly and accumulate until we pay the outstanding amount. my wife is out of a job, we arent reciving service since March,. is it legal to ask us to pay for services that's suspended but charged for. Please can someone assist.

Yes, just because they suspended services doesn't mean the billing stops, every month you wait the more you accumulate.

Find a way to pay up so you can cancel. easiest route.

i realise that but what am i being billed for.

I have the same thing with Cell C. Due to economic circumstances I have been unable to pay them for the last 3 months. Will settle the account next month when I get my SARS sorted out.

I don't know if the service is suspended, as I don't use the SIM. I don't even know where the SIM is. I have a SIM and data(10GB) and airtime (R100) from work every month, so I only have the contract to upgrade devices when it is due.

The contract is R25 Airtime and 1GB data per month.

The contract that you signed / agreed to.
Agreed. But the contact fee is month to month , basically prepaid which i asked to be stopped in the first month that we were overdue.

I agree with you, they should have stopped it when you requested it.

Was the account up to date when you asked them to cancel it?
